Along with a New Component Pack Release, Version 2.2 Simplifies Design and Enhances Collaboration for Global Design Teams

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NAS: CY) today introduced PSoC® Creator™ 2.2, the integrated design environment (IDE) for Cypress’s PSoC 3 and PSoC 5LP architectures, along with a new Component Pack. The new software update simplifies and accelerates designs with new PSoC Components™, enabling easy creation and distribution of custom Components, and generates custom datasheets.

PSoC Creator is more than merely an IDE. In addition to a robust compiler and programmer, it allows users to configure PSoC programmable hardware into a custom one-chip solution. It includes a rich library of over 100 pre-verified, production-ready analog and digital Components—”virtual chips,” represented by an icon—that users can drag-and-drop into a design and configure to suit a broad array of application requirements. Developers can download the new software free of charge at www.cypress.com/Creator.

PSoC Creator 2.2 with Component Pack 5 features seven new and five enhanced Components including MDIO Interface, SAR Sequencer and a digital Component pack with multiple Flip/Flops, a Pulse Converter and a Frequency Divider. It also offers a new PWM-based sensor interface Component that connects to Analog Devices’ TMP05 temperature sensors. Components integrate system interfaces and discrete ICs into a PSoC solution, reducing BOM costs and board-space.

New Modules Provide Optimal Design with Complete Schematics, Inductor Design and Bill of Materials

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Fairchild Semiconductor (NYS: FCS) , a leading global supplier of high performance power and mobile semiconductor solutions, has enhanced Power Supply WebDesigner – an online design and simulation tool that provides complete designs in under a minute – to include complete continuous conduction mode (CCM), non-isolated active PFC buck and buck LED driver designs.

From user-specified design inputs, the Power Supply WebDesigner (PSW) tool allows designers to choose all the components used in a design or have the tool automatically recommend the design values – providing Fairchild part numbers where applicable. PSW can automatically recommend design values, or allows the user to evaluate their own component choices.

While using the tool, designers can accept default recommended values, or spend time optimizing the important details to their unique design needs. Designers can get quick, accurate estimates on design performance, and refine design choices as they go. The tool also allows them to spend the time to perform detailed simulation analysis and learn the insights of how their design and its hardware prototype will work with higher degree of confidence.

When a design is complete, PSW creates a BOM which can be sent to their procurement department or instantly procure the components online, saving time on documentation or sourcing parts elsewhere. PI Expert Suite 9.0
improves the productivity of power supply design teams by greatly reducing the time to first prototype and by slashing the number of prototype iterations required to reach a finished product. The software now includes support for solid-state-lighting products, enabling LED designs to be optimized for CC, dimming and harmonic emissions. As with previous-generations, PI Expert Suite 9.0generates a complete schematic of the power supply and offers power transformer optimization techniques, even specifying the transformer design and offering links to wound component manufacturers. A heatsink calculation tool provides the designer with an estimation of the thermal design requirements for a new power supply which may be used to guide layout and mechanical prototyping decisions – avoiding iterations and wasted time. Changing txt files to pure UTF-8

I have two Macs running 10.7.5.

We download .txt files from remote site to these local Macs using ‘rsync -e ssh -avz…’.

The files on Mac1 are in the required format of pure UTF-8. The files on Mac2 are in UTF-8 (no BOM) which is wrong format for us; these formats are indicated using BBEdit.

Is there a Unix instruction to correct this or an instruction we can pass to rysnc?
