Netflix Inks 'Toons Agreement With Hasbro

Bugs Bunny they ain’t, and they lack even the unvocalized theatrical brilliance of Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, but Hasbro‘s Littlest Pet Shop and Kaijudo characters apparently hold some attraction for the pre-tween viewers in this day and age.

Enough attraction, at least, that on Thursday, online video provider Netflix announced that it has inked an agreement with Hasbro to make it the exclusive online streamer of both Hasbro Studios offerings Littlest Pet Shop and Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters.

According to a Netflix press release, the company is now the exclusive streamer in the U.S. of “five of Hasbro Studios‘ most popular shows — My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, Transformers PrimeTransformers Rescue BotsKaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters, and Littlest Pet Shop.” One month after the end of a “broadcast” season for each series, the whole series will become available for streaming on Netflix. Most of these shows are also already available, or soon will be, to Netflix viewers in Canada as well.

Financial terms of the licensing agreement were not disclosed.

In a statement, Netflix confirmed that it streamed “2 billion hours of kids content” to its members in 2012.

Optimus Prime's TV and Movies Future

It’s hard not to geek out talking to Peter Cullen, since you’re talking to Optimus Prime himself – a childhood hero to myself and so many others. But I did the best to keep my composure when I spoke to Cullen at last week’s premiere for Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters. The third season is the final one for the series, but as Cullen noted, it’s never really the end for the remarkably durable Transformers franchise.

Cullen also spoke briefly about Transformers 4, confirming he’ll once again be voicing Optimus Prime for Michael Bay’s hugely successful film series.

IGN: When last we saw Optimus on Transformers Prime, things weren’t going so well for him, to say the least.

Transformers Prime: Season 3 Trailer Debut

Are you ready for Transformers Prime Beast Hunters? Transformers Prime is returning this spring with a big new storyline, as Season 3 introduces a new take on a classic Transformers faction – the Predacons.

In this incarnation, the Predacons, led by Predaking, are dragon-like Transformers and a fearsome new enemy that could turn the tide of the war in Megatron’s favor.

Hasbro revealed new details on Beast Hunters at Toy Fair in New York this past weekend, including the upcoming toy line to accompany the animated series. While a lucky few were able to see footage from the new season at Hasbro’s Collector’s Event, IGN has the online debut of the first trailer for Transformers Prime Beast Hunters.
