Blomkamp: I'd Still Love to Make Halo, But …

It’s one of the most infamous video game movie adaptations that never happened, but the filmmaker who almost brought it to the big screen would still love to take a crack at it — if he could make it on his terms.

Halo The Movie: What We Want

The film is Halo and the director is Neill Blomkamp, who, along with producer Peter Jackson, tried in vain to get the project off the ground several years ago until its massive budget and studio concerns caused it to fall apart. After Halo imploded, Blomkamp and Jackson went on to make the sci-fi hit District 9, which earned an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

‘Elysium,’ Matt Damon’s New Movie, Makes Enemies Of The 1 Percent

LOS ANGELES — The year is 2154, and Earth belongs to the poor. The wealthiest citizens live on “Elysium,” an idyllic, disease-free utopia they built in space.

On Monday, a few hundred film fans in Los Angeles, Berlin and Sao Paolo got an early look at the future home of the 1 percent as imagined by “District 9” writer-director Neill Blomkamp.

Blomkamp's New Film Elysium Looks Great

Sony previewed the new trailer as well as 10 minutes of footage from their upcoming sci-fi thriller Elysium for IGN and other select members of the press Monday, with director Neill Blomkamp, producer Simon Kinberg and stars Matt Damon (via satellite from Germany) and Sharlto Copley in attendance. The trailer will debut online tomorrow.
