Charlie Sheen Extends His Commitment to Internet Television

Provides Production Capital to Digital Development Group

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)– The Digital Development Group (OTCBB: DIDG) (DigiDev), a Hollywood-based OTT (Over the Top) TV, technology, content acquisition and distribution company, today announced that actor Charlie Sheen has invested in the company. The funds will be used to help expand the company’s original programming and other content. This comes on the heels of Sheen’s recent deal with DigiDev for the development and creation of the Charlie Sheen Cyber TV channel.

“Charlie understands the power of this new TV technology and his fertile mind has already begun to shape his upcoming channel. Old fans and new fans will see the uncensored Charlie Sheen take on the role of the ‘outspoken’ spokesperson for the new generation,” said Joe Q. Bretz, president of DigiDev. “Internet television is on fire with Bloomberg reporting that Netflix tops cable networks with 4-billion viewing hours in the past three months, and Mediapost.com forecasting that OTT (Internet TV) will hit $20 billion by 2015, which explains why in addition to Netflix, Google, and Apple, others are charging into this arena. DigiDev will continue to create new, cutting-edge programming, while increasing its channel count with an eclectic mix of compelling programming.”

42 is Weekend Box Office Champ

The Jackie Robinson biopic 42 debuted atop the weekend box office with $27.3 million, while Scary Movie V was second with $15.2 million.

Scary Movie V only cost $19.5 million, but that opening is far below the $40 million that Scary Movie 4 made in its debut.

Weekend Box Office: '42' Sets Record, 'Scary Movie 5' Bombs, 'Oblivion' launches overseas.

Here’s an odd statistic: Despite baseball being theoretically America’s national past time and being the subject of any number of feature films over the decades, not a single baseball-themed film has ever opened at over $20 million.  Not until today that is, when the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 (review HERE) opened with a surprisingly robust $27.3 million.  Not only is that the biggest baseball opening weekend on record, it’s the biggest baseball-themed opening weekend even when adjusted for inflation (in 2013 dollars, A League of Their Own has a debut of $26.6 million).  This is good news for the somewhat beleaguered Warner Bros, which has seen the disappointing returns for Bullet to the Head, Beautiful Creatures, and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (all well under $25 million in domestic totals).  The film scored a rock-solid 3.0x weekend multiplier and a somewhat rare A+ score from the audience polling service CinemaScore.  The film played 52% male and 83% 25-and-older.  So yeah, the $38 million production is likely going to have long legs at least for the month of April with a trip over the $100 million mark a genuine possibility.

Scary Movie 5 Review

Ah, Scary Movie 5, where to begin…

When it was first announced that Anna Faris would’t be coming back to star in the latest Scary Movie, my expectations went from low to lower. I was never a huge fan of the series, but they were never offensively unfunny, especially with names like Faris, Marlon Wayans, Cheri Oteri, David Cross and Tim Curry attached.

Best case scenario, though, Scary Movie 5 was a chance to kind of reboot the series and reclaim its former glory of the early 2000s. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case here. At all. (Seriously. (For real.))

Also, if you were hoping to see some big comeback from Charlie Sheen or Lindsay Lohan in this movie, you can forget it. First off, if those two “actors” are your reason for seeing any movie, then shame on you. Second, their screen time lasts all of three minutes at the top of the flick, and if you’ve already seen the trailer, then you’ve pretty much seen their whole schtick — save for one clownish “sex” sequence accompanied by the Benny Hill theme. (That alone should clue you in to type of comedy we’re dealing with here.)

DigiDev TV Sets June as Target Launch Date for Charlie Sheen Cyber TV Channel

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)– The Digital Development Group (OTCBB: DIDG) (DigiDev), a Hollywood-based OTT (Over the Top) TV content acquisition and distribution company, and actor, Charlie Sheen, announced today it has set a June target launch date for the Charlie Sheen Cyber TV channel.

This comes in response to overwhelming demand for the channel following DigiDev’s announcement last week that it had signed Sheen as a spokesperson for the DigiDev TV network, http://www.digidev.tv.

“Charlie’s fans will literally be brought into a unique universe which will be challenging, thought provoking and have creative content. We are expecting the first iteration to be launched in June,” says Joe Q. Bretz, DigiDev’s president and co-founder.

“Over the coming weeks, we will be working to develop and make ready the original programming that is ‘my brain,'” commented Sheen.

Sheen’s role will also include being curator of DigiDev’s channels and acting as special content acquisition advisor to the company.

Among DigiDev’s niche content is the Sci-Fi Station,Silent Era Films, Kontakt TV (mixed martial arts), and Kato’s Korner, which features guest interviews hosted by Kato Kaelin.

Sheen Finds a Home for His Voice

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)– The Digital Development Group (OTCBB: DIDG) (DigiDev), a Hollywood, California,-based OTT (Over the Top) TV content acquisition and distribution company, announced today that it has signed actor Charlie Sheen as spokesperson for its network, DigiDev TV, http://www.digidev.tv. Lindsay Lohan Guests on Anger Management

We haven’t even seen them together once, but they’ll be more than one Charlie Sheen / Lindsay Lohan team-ups in the near future. The tabloid-baiting actors are both in the upcoming Scary Movie 5, and now Deadline reveals Lohan will be guest starring on Sheen’s FX sitcom, Anger Management.

According to Deadline, Lohan will play herself on the episode, who “develops a romantic relationship with Sheen’s character after becoming his therapy patient.” The episode is slated to air in April, likely as a publicity stunt to help promote Scary Movie 5.

Movie 43 Review

I went into Movie 43 thinking it would be pretty bad be based on the trailers, but despite this, I was hoping it could at least deliver some decent laughs. After all, I thought the first Scary Movie was hysterical at the time. But this?  Nothing could have prepared me for just how terrible this experience would be. I really hoped it would prove me wrong and plant a smirk on my face, but there is quite literally nothing redeeming about this movie.

I know it’s trying to be edgy or offensive with its content, but it’s not and it covers jokes we’ve seen handled better a gazillion times before. It’s a comedy that isn’t funny. It’s unoriginal. I kept checking my watch to see how much longer I had to sit in the theater.
