Winter Soldier Footage Reaction

At the Marvel panel at Comic-Con this evening, we got to see Captain America put his Super Soldier skills to work, big time. But watch out — some spoilers for Winter Soldier follow.

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, introduced the cast of the film — Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Cobie Smulders, and Emily VanCamp, plus directors Anthony and Joe Russo — before showing a sizzle reel that knocked the crowd’s socks off. It also knocked a bunch of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents on their asses, as a matter of fact.

The first portion of the reel features Cap getting into an elevator at what appears to be S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. He’s in his full S.H.I.E.L.D. style uniform, and as other agents board the elevator at different floors, Cap notices one guy sweating, another’s hand sort of hanging near his holster, and so on. Something is wrong, and after the lift is full of agents (including Frank Grillo’s Crossbones), he says, “Before we do this, does anyone want to get out?” Then a full-on fight breaks out, with Cap greatly outnumbered and seemingly beaten from the moment it starts — headlocked, pinned, and getting hit with electrically charged stun sticks. One of his hands is pinned to the wall by a magnetic handcuff, but Cap still fights off his attackers with his remaining available hand. It’s all quickly cut and edgy type stuff, less superhero-ish than Bourne.

Comic-Con: Marvel's Captain America 2, Guardians Press Conference

Marvel Studios brought two big upcoming projects to its San Diego Comic-Con Press Conference on Saturday: Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy.

First up was the Cap conference, which included stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo, Cobie Smulders, as well as directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo.

During the Q&A, Evans explained a little bit about what Steve Rogers has been up to since joining The Avengers and how he’s grown from film to film. “In the first Captain America, it’s about giving

the opportunity to serve, the opportunity to be a soldier. In The Avengers, you have so many other characters and all these establishments and relationships, and you can’t really dive too deeply into any one character. In this movie, it’s about showing Cap, now given the ability to give up himself, the question now becomes ‘Well, what’s right?’ It’s not just about doing the right thing, it’s what is the right thing… It’s not black and white, it’s gray, and I think that’s where his relationship with Black Widow comes to fruition… Something happens, and as a result, these two people from different worlds need to rely on one another.”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, ‘Don Jon’ Star, On The Advice He Didn’t Take From Christopher Nolan

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Joseph Gordon-Levitt spent the first three months of 2013 taking “Don Jon,” his debut as a writer and director, on the festival circuit, with stops at Sundance, Berlin and, now, South By Southwest.

“It’s a lot of fun to play in front of movie-loving audiences,” Gordon-Levitt told HuffPost Entertainment on Sunday, one day before screening “Don Jon” (previously titled “Don Jon‘s Addiction”) at the Paramount Theater in Austin. “This is not just a movie that you’re entertained by and then it’s over. It’s a movie that’s trying to provoke you, trying to get you to think, and, I hope, start some conversations.”

That should be easy: “Don Jon” is like the “expectations vs. reality” scene in “(500) Days of Summer” writ large and feature-length. Gordon-Levitt’s provocative new film tells the story Jon, a New Jersey ladies’ man with an addiction to pornography. It’s not until he meets two women — played by Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore — that Jon begins to grow up.

Bush family email hacked: Here's a security refresher

Thanks to an anonymous hacker self-identified as Guccifer, we now know that former President George W. Bush likes to paint self-portraits in the bath. That’s one of the tidbits revealed when at least six email accounts belonging to Bush family members were hacked and their contents shared online. The high profile hack underscores, once again, the importance of a strong password when it comes to your email account – whether you are the former President of the United States or an average Jane or Joe Gmail user.

George H.W. Bush

The email messages from the family of George H.W. Bush and close friends span 2009 to 2012, and include private family discussions along with family photos, according to The Smoking Gun.

Other than the shower paintings, the photos posted online are pretty generic. One shows former presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton posing with a younger member of the Bush clan, possibly Pierce Bush (no stranger to online over exposure himself). Others include photos of Jeb Bush, George W. Bush, and Laura and Barbara Bush.

The Bush family intrusion is the focus of a criminal investigation, a Bush family spokesperson told The Houston Chronicle. Hacking public figures has become a routine occurrence in recent years, with email, personal photos, cell phones, and social networking accounts all under fire. The Bush family joins a roster of hacked politicians that includes former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and Sen. Chuck Grassley. Beyond politicians, the volume of celebrity hacks inspire countless online slideshows, including leaked photos of Miley Cyrus, Olivia Munn, and Scarlett Johansson.
