Elite Eight Wraps With Rick Pitino vs. Coach K, Sizzling Trey Burke

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Tom Izzo pitted against Mike Krzyzewski was sensational in the Sweet 16, but coach Rick Pitino’s Louisville program may be the most relevant in the country right now, after narrowly losing the national title last year.

Pitino has made six trips to the Final Four and a seventh would tie him for fourth all-time with North Carolina’s Roy Williams. Krzyzewski though, is gunning for his 12th, which would tie him with John Wooden for most all time. Don’t forget that the last time the two met one another, this happened.

In our other tilt, the combination of speed and athleticism between Florida and Michigan should be incredible. Both teams love to get up and down, and both teams also feature premier head coaches. It will be interesting to see how the Wolverines — fresh off a highly emotional come-from-behind victory over Kansas, will respond less than 48 hours after the fact.

Duke vs. Michigan State; Florida Gulf Coast vs. Florida: NCAA LIVE SCORES, UPDATES

By The Huffington Post News Editors

The Sweet 16 wraps up on Friday night with a chess match between two of the most respected coaches in the game and a Sunshine State version of David vs. Goliath.

In the Midwest Region, No. 2 Duke and No. 3 Michigan State face off for the chance to play No. 1 overall seed Louisville in the Elite Eight. With 15 Final Four appearances and 5 five national championships combined, coaches Mike Krzyzewski and Tom Izzo bring plenty of experience to the sidelines in Indianapolis. Izzo’s teams are just 1-6 against Coach K’s Blue Devils (1-1 in the NCAA Tournament) and will have their work cut for them against this deep group.

In arguably the most anticipated game of the night, the Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast University resume their Cinderella run through the South section of the bracket. The No. 15 FGCU Eagles stunned No. 2 Georgetown and No. 7 San Diego State to reach the Sweet 16.

Battle of Two Coaches – It's Madness

By Josh Linkner, Contributor

Tonight at 9:45 pm in Indianapolis, a battle will be fought between two powerhouses, Michigan State and Duke. Although ten men will be on the court at any given time, two legends will be on the sidelines. Mike Krzyzewski, Coach K, has led the Blue Devils to 11 Final Fours and four championship titles – he’s the winningest coach in NCAA Division I men’s basketball history. Equally impressive is Tom Izzo, who’s led his Spartans squad to sixteen straight NCAA tournaments since 1998, despite plenty of setbacks along the way. For me, the magic of March Madness isn’t just the impeccable basketball played night after night, but rather the expert leadership and coaching styles on display throughout the tournament. Tonight, we have a gift to witness two legends at their best. Here’s a bit of insight of how they do it. …read more
