Saints Row IV Refused Classification in Australia. Again.

A three-member panel of the Australian Classification Review Board has unanimously agreed Saints Row IV, in its original form, will remain classified Refused Classification.

In the Review Board’s opinion, Saints Row IV does not meet the R18+ classification guidelines as proscribed drug use related to incentives and rewards is forbidden.

For now, Saints Row IV cannot be sold, hired, demonstrated or advertised in Australia.

The Review Board met on Monday July 29, 2013 in response to an application from Koch Media to review the original decision made by the Classification Board on June 19, 2013 to classify Saints Row IV Refused Classification. An alien anal probe weapon and a side-mission that featured the use of “alien narcotics” related to in-game superpowers were the reasons the Classification Board cited for the ban.

Metro: Last Light Release Date Announced

Metro: Last Light will be available from May 14 in America and May 17 in Europe, Deep Silver has announced.

The sequel to 2010’s Metro 2033 takes place in the year 2034, where nuclear war has turned the world into a post-apocalyptic wasteland meaning the former inhabitants of Moscow must take to the tunnels of the Metro to survive. Players will take control of Artyom, as he tries to fight off the various mutants that haunt the wasteland as well as stop impending civil war.

The future of the game seemed unclear following THQ going bankrupt, but the game was saved when Koch Media purchased both it and the Saint’s Row franchises at the company’s auction of assets.

Metro: Last Light is currently scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Bayonetta Creators May Buy Darksiders IP

Despite not being sold in the auction of THQ’s assets that took place on January 22, it seems there’s still a sliver of hope for the Darksiders franchise.

While SEGA, Koch Media, Crytek, Take-Two and Ubisoft all purchased various intellectual property and studios that once belonged to THQ, no one stepped forward to buy Vigil Games or Darksiders at the auction, meaning things looked pretty bleak.

As a result, the game’s lead designer Haydn Dalton took to Twitter to lament what seemed to signify the end of his studio, particularly with regard to what the team had planned for Darksiders III.

Saints Row, Company of Heroes, Darksiders Devs Acquired

Following THQ’s auction of its assets, the new homes of THQ franchises are slowly being revealed. According to multiple IGN sources as well as reports circulating on Twitter, Koch Media, Take-Two, Ubisoft and SEGA are among the new owners of THQ’s intellectual property and studios.

SEGA has reportedly acquired Relic, developer of Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.

Koch Media (owner of Dead Island publisher Deep Silver) has reportedly agreed to purchase Saints Row developer Volition as well as the publishing rights to the Metro franchise.
