J.R. Smith Ejected: Elbow To Jason Terry Ends Game 3 For Knicks’ Swingman (VIDEO)

BOSTON (AP) — New York Knicks swingman J.R. Smith was ejected from Friday night’s playoff game against Boston for elbowing Celtics guard Jason Terry in the face.

Terry was guarding Smith with about 7 minutes left in the game when Smith swung his elbows widely, catching Terry in the face. Terry popped up and had to be restrained by teammates, coach Doc Rivers and referee Dan Crawford.

The officials immediately called a foul, and after video review ruled it a Flagrant 2, meaning an automatic ejection.

THE FACTS: Gerald Henderson scored a career-high 35 points and the Charlotte Bobcats snapped a 10-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 100-74 win over the short-handed Boston Celtics at Time Warner Cable Arena. THE FACTS: Greivis Vasquez had 15 points and 11 rebounds, carrying the shorthanded New Orleans Hornets to a surprising 90-78 win over the Boston Celtics Wednesday night. Austin Rivers added eight points for the Hornets (13-26) off the bench as he won the first head-to-head matchup against his father, Doc Rivers, coach of Boston (20-18). Al-Farouq Aminu had a season-high 18 points to lead the surging visitors, as the Hornets have now won six out of their last seven games. Kevin Garnett finished with 15 points to pace the Celtics, as they had their six-game winning streak snapped.
