Chevrolet Corvette Timeline: Milestones and More from C1 through C7
Over its 60-odd-year run, the Corvette has largely stuck to its original objective of providing homegrown performance wrapped in a stylish, two-seat package. Its journey has at times been an uncertain one, but now in its seventh generation, it’s safe to say the hits have outnumber the misses. Here’s our look at the Corvette story from conception to 2014 C7.

1951: Harley Earl, GM’s chief designer, drives the Le Sabre concept car to Watkins Glen, where he falls in love with the Jaguar XK120. The wheels begin to turn.
1953: Chevrolet reveals the Corvette dream car on January 17, 1953, at New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel, as part of the kickoff to that year’s GM Motorama. Named after small, highly maneuverable naval escort ship, the show car is also known as the EX-122.
On June 30 of the same year, the first production 1953 Corvette rolls off the assembly line in Flint, Michigan. Production is capped at 300 units, all in the now iconic Polo White/Sportsman Red exterior/interior color scheme and powered by the 150-hp, three-carb “Blue Flame” inline-six and a two-speed Powerglide transmission. The only options are a heater and an AM radio.
1954: Corvette production begins at GM’s St. Louis, Missouri, facility on January 1. Chevrolet expands the exterior color choices to include Pennant Blue, Sportsman Red, and Black. Beige is added as an interior option. The straight-six engine gets bumped to 155 hp. Just 3640 Corvettes are produced by year’s end.
1955: The small block Chevy V-8 makes its first appearance between a Corvette’s fiberglass fenders, and a three-speed manual appears as an option. The year closes with the six-cylinder bidding adieu. Production totals 700 units.
1956: Factory-installed removable hardtops are offered for the first time, and the exterior gets exposed headlamps, sculpted side coves, and roll-up windows. Seatbelts make the scene as a dealer-installed option, and one-hundred and eleven buyers drop $188.30 on a high-lift cam (order code: RPO #449). Head Corvette engineer (and future legend) Zora Arkus-Duntov tells the brass to go racing, but his pleas for a racing program fall on deaf corporate ears. Two four-barrel carbs enhance the 265-cubic-inch (4.3-liter) V-8, and our own Karl Ludvigsen (back when we were known as Sports Cars Illustrated) deems the ’56 credible: “Without qualification, General Motors is now building a sports car.”

UFO Sighting Over Mexico Volcano On July 16, 2013.
By ScottCWaring
Another glowing UFO was caught on live cam by someone on July 16, 2013. It was hard to see this object in video, so I made it full screen and took some screenshots. Then I adjusted the lighting and contrast so we can see the object more clearly. This UFO looks like it has 5 sides. Also the propulsion system is in the centre causing the brightness we see. This UFO looks very similar to the USAF TR3B, which also has a similar glowing propulsion system, but is triangle form. It’s possible this may be alien technology in USAF hands and the USAF is visiting the alien base. Does the US government know about this base? Yes, they do. They allow it to go on because…one aliens have superior technology and two the US government wants some of it. Let me put a TR3B night vision video that was sent to me two years ago from France. SCW

UFO while out of astronauts into space, 19 April 2013
By ScottCWaring
Date of sighting: April 18 & 19, 2013
Location: International Space Station
Multiple UFOs have been recorded by many eyewitnesses on NASA live cam on the 18th and 19th of April 2013. Astronauts were outside the station working on setting up an experimental when flashing or glowing objects were seen on live cam. Agains the blackness of space these UFOs stood out brightly. Check out the videos below. I myself caught one but it was only the last 5 seconds before it disappeared off screen so I didn’t post it on Youtube, but apparently many others caught the full show. IGN AU Pubcast 67: Bam, Bam, Bam, BIRDS!
Welcome to yet another edition of the IGN AU Pubcast. Cam and Lucy are back in town, so be warned: the level of discourse inevitably dives back down into the gutter, after last episode’s brief moment in the dappled light of maturity. Seriously though, that Lucy is filthy! Joining them is the reverend Luke Reilly, the glittering Jem Gold, and the bold, beautiful Ben Baker. It’s a guaranteed* good time!

Large Colorful Disk Near Space Station Caught On Live Cam, April 7, 2013.
By ScottCWaring
There really is an endless stream of UFOs seen on the NASA ISS live cam. UFOs are recorded almost daily. Most the time they are matching speed with the ISS and far away, but sometimes they are moving about or past the ISS cam. Here we have a great example of a very colourful disk. This disk has several colors like green, yellow and dark orange. Nice catch. SCW
Two UFOs Caught Entering Volcano In Mexico, April 4, 2013.
By ScottCWaring
Date of sighting: April 4, 2013
Location of sighting: Volcano Popocatepeti, Mexico
I was watching the live cam of Popocatepeti which has photos every few half minute and in one of the photos there seems to be two dark UFOs coming from or into the volcano. The UFOs are in the cloud of smoke which shows us it is over the mouth of the volcano. The second UFO is actually in the smoke. SCW

By The Huffington Post News Editors
A bald eagle live cam on California’s Catalina Island is streaming live footage of two majestic eagles keeping watch over a trio of precious eggs expected to hatch around March 31.
The live stream features two eagles, a female named Wray and a male nicknamed “Superman,” who have made their home in a nest high up on the Catalina cliffs. Wray’s three eggs were laid at the end of February and early March.
“We expect the first egg to hatch around Easter, give or take a day,” Dr. Peter Sharpe of the Institute for Wildlife Studies said in a press release.

Tessera Technologies Announces Refocused DigitalOptics Business Strategy and Restructuring
DOC Will Concentrate on its Differentiated Technology and Leverage Partner Relationships
Company Operating Expenses in DOC and Corporate Overhead Are Expected to be Reduced by $78 Million or Approximately 45%, Excluding Charges
SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Tessera Technologies, Inc. (NAS: TSRA) (the “Company”) today announced that it is refocusing its DigitalOptics Corporation (“DOC“) business strategy to achieve the full potential of its differentiated imaging technology while reducing costs. The Company expects to reduce operating expenses in DigitalOptics Corporation (“DOC“) and Corporate Overhead by approximately $78 million, or 45%, on an annualized basis exiting 2013, as compared to 2012.
The Company has determined that it is no longer necessary for DOC to be a vertically integrated camera module supplier. DOC will instead focus its strategy on the differentiated MEMS-related technologies, where it has proprietary assembly technology and expertise, and will partner with third-party manufacturers to produce other components of the full camera module. DOC will continue to productize the mems|cam technology throughout the rest of the year, and expects to ship small production volumes of its technology in 2013.
The refocused DOC strategy and restructuring resulted from a business strategy review directed by a committee of independent directors (the “Committee”), led by Richard S. Hill, former chairman and CEO of Novellus Systems. The Committee worked with management to evaluate the Company’s overall business opportunity, strategy and operating model. The Committee and the Board of Directors will continue to monitor the DOC business closely to ensure that its strategy and business model are appropriate for the market opportunity.
“Our Board is taking action to deliver value for our stockholders in both the near and long term,” said Hill. “DOC‘s recently launched mems|cam technology is a disruptive technology that will be an inflection point in – and the future of – imaging solutions in the smartphone, tablet and other mobile imaging segments. Given the emerging acceptance of the mems|cam technology in the marketplace, we can now shift our strategy to focus on the areas of manufacturing where we have a defensible, differentiated advantage and better leverage our manufacturing partners. Our goal is to accelerate the success of DOC while reducing costs, which we expect to improve the overall financial performance of the Company.”
“These actions will result in a less capital-intensive approach for our DOC business, which will enable us to continue to innovate and develop the product and manufacturing capabilities that …read more

San Diego restricts beach use after seal abuse
San Diego‘s mayor has ordered a two-month nighttime shutdown of a beach after cameras set up to monitor a seal colony captured people kicking, punching and sitting on top of mother seals and their pups.
Mayor Bob Filner said in a statement Tuesday that the La Jolla (HOY’-uh) beach known as Children’s Pool will be closed between sunset and sunrise until May 15.
The 24-hour “seal-cam” was introduced in January and equipped with night vision so researchers and the public could watch the seals give birth during pupping season.
But the camera captured people abusing and harassing the seals and driving them from their resting places.
The beach has been the center of a long legal fight over human access versus seal protection.
Rotating Cube UFO Near Space Station, March 17, 2013.
By ScottCWaring
If you make the video full screen and view it at 1080 HD, then you will see that this object is not changing shape but rather rotating in circles. It looks like UFOs spotted on the NASA live cam are becoming a daily occurrence. So with hundreds of videos of UFOs near the ISS on Youtube, you would think that NASA would at least talk about it, show close up photos of the objects, or be excited about the existence of aliens, but no. You want to know what NASA really stands for? Not An Straight Answer. SCW
