The No. 2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes will face No. 10 seed Iowa State in the third round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament in the West Region.

Sam Thompson scored 20 points as Ohio State dominated Iona in the second round, outscoring the Gaels 95-70. The Buckeyes advance to the next round rolling high on a nine-game winning streak. They’ll be joined by Iowa State, who rolled past Notre Dame in a 7-10 upset.

The winner in this matchup on March 24 will advance to the Sweet 16.

March Madness Predictions: Experts’ NCAA Tournament Bracket Picks, Final Four Teams

Shortly after the 2013 NCAA Tournament bracket was revealed, the oddsmakers in Las Vegas installed Louisville, the No. 1 overall seed, as the slight favorite to win it all. The sports media experts tended to agree that Rick Pitino‘s club was likeliest to cut down the nets in Atlanta.

“We at CBSSports.com had Louisville ranked No. 1 in the preseason. So I’m not surprised the Cardinals are the No. 1 overall seed, and I’m not about to move off of them now,” wrote Gary Parish at CBSSports.com. “They’re on a 10-game winning streak featuring six straight wins over teams also in the Field of 68.”

Out of the nine CBS writers and analysts polled, eight picked the Cards to extend their winning streak by six games. The lone CBS expert to not pick Louisville, Gregg Doyel, tapped the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the national championship.

Ohio State vs. Iona NCAA Tournament 2013 Preview Capsules: Predict The Winner

Thad Matta’s No. 2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes will face the No. 15 Iona Gaels in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament in the West Region.

Although they may have been overshadowed by a few of their conference rivals during the regular season, the Buckeyes rose to the top in the Big Ten Tournament. The Gaels secured a spot in the field of 68 by winning the MAAC Tournament.

The winner in this matchup in Dayton on Friday, March 22 will face the Notre Dame-Iowa State winner in the third round.
