NYU Faculty Demand Martin Lipton’s Resignation As Board Of Trustees Chairman

By The Huffington Post News Editors

A group of New York University faculty are demanding in an open letter released Tuesday that Martin Lipton, chairman of the institution’s board of trustees, resign from the position he’s held for 14 years.

NYU Faculty Against the Sexton Plan, a group of more than 400 faculty members, has vocally opposed the university’s expansion effort, and on Tuesday issued a lengthy letter laying out their grievances with Lipton and NYU president John Sexton, touching on a slew of controversies from the past few years.

“This is not a step that we take lightly,” the group wrote. “We are well aware of your long dedication to NYU’s betterment, and your many services on its behalf. It is because, as faculty, we share your dedication to the university that we feel obliged to take this step — and to explain, precisely, why we are now taking it.”

James Franco: NYU Professor Can’t Sue Me For Saying He Sucks

By The Huffington Post News Editors

James Franco refuses to back down from the ex-NYU professor who sued the actor for calling him a “bad teacher” — insisting the guy not only sucks at teaching, but he also screwed up his own lawsuit.

Franco has just filed a response to Jose Angel Santana‘s request for a default judgement in his favor in his defamation lawsuit against Franco. Santana feels he’s entitled to the judgement because Franco never responded to the initial 2011 lawsuit.

By Andy Ellwood, Contributor

I first met David Burstein in Argentina giving out shoes to children in need with TOMS Shoes. Our next meeting was in Abu Dhabi where he was producing a documentary on behalf of NYU. 5 Seeds to Sprout Success

By Julia Pimsleur, Contributor Liz Neumark, who gave the Keynote at the recent WEF 3 I attended, a festival for Women Entrepreneurs held at NYU in New York, grew her successful catering business on five key ideas – Seeds – which she shared with us. Liz started the business in 1979 to supplement her income as a photographer and then grew it exponentially, ultimately making Great Performances one of New York‘s top catering companies. She did this while raising three kids and  buying and cultivating a 60-acre organic  farm in upstate New York where kids come to learn about healthy eating and 5% of its harvest to anti-hunger organizations like City Harvest.

Homer's Odyssey Goes to Space

Sing to me of the adaptation, Muse, the Warner Bros. plan to make a film version of The Odyssey set in outer space.

How sparkling-eyed Athena drove the studio to hire James DiLapo to put pen to parchment; to re-imagine Homer’s epic poem about hard-suffering Odysseus and his long journey home from the Trojan War, only with a sci-fi twist.

Oh Zeus! Golden-haired Brad Pitt was once attached to star, for the gods know he played Achilles in Warners’ Troy, though he has since left the project. But still, the studio does see franchise potential for The Odyssey. Maybe they can call it A Space Odyssey.

True, the people might well wonder who James DiLapo is; graduated from NYU just last summer, the great DiLapo’s first script, Devils at Play, made the divine 2012 Black List. The daughter of Zeus, whose shield is storm and thunder, indeed watches over him.
