Orson Welles And Marilyn Monroe: Famous Director Describes Dating Sex Symbol

By The Huffington Post News Editors

My Lunches With Orson, edited by Peter Biskind ($28, Metropolitan) is a book containing transcripts of a series of lunchtime conversations between Orson Welles and his friend, director Henry Jaglom, in the early 1980s, when the director was in his late 60s.

The book is described by literary website The Millions as “entertaining, salacious reading for those of us who enjoy old Hollywood gossip delivered with exquisite nastiness.” He calls Humphrey Bogart “both a coward and a very bad fighter,” and says that Katherine Hepburn “laid around the town like nobody’s business.” And he also describes dating a young Marilyn Monroe.

The Guardian says that this occurred in 1947, the year she turned 21, writing that “a brief fling with unknown starlet Marilyn Monroe ended with an angry husband (not hers), wrongly convinced that Welles was with his wife, bursting in on Welles and Monroe and thumping the filmmaker in the jaw.”

‘Smash’: Karen Makes A Huge Decision That Sees Everyone Falling Into Their Rightful Place (VIDEO)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

With Tom directing “Bombshell,” it quickly became a struggle for him and Karen to get on the same page. After all, she was Derek’s muse. Tom’s muse was, and always had been, Ivy. In an episode of “Smash” filled with conflict resolution, Karen made the big decision to abandon “Bombshell” and join Derek on the new project with Jimmy and Andy.

As for Ivy, her production with Terrence officially became a bomb, so they decided to go out with one final and memorable performance. It just happened to be the performance everybody was at, and no one could believe what they were seeing. Terrence’s broad comedy had jaws on the ground, but it also made the production certain to end, freeing Ivy to find her way back to Marilyn Monroe.

Even Eileen found a way to get Jerry to give “Bombshell” back to her. She used their daughter to play on his emotions. By the end of the episode, everyone was where they should be. Ivy was headed back to work with Tim, Julia and Eileen on “Bombshell” while Derek and Karen were collaborating with Jimmy and Andy on their fresh new piece.

Was the Late Stan Musial Baseball's Greatest Living Hitter? How About Barry Bonds?

By Allen St. John, Contributor If last Friday, someone asked “who is baseball’s greatest living hitter,” even the most rabid baseball fans wouldn’t have immediately said “Stan Musial.” Musial, who died on Saturday at the age of 92,l had a long and storied career, and was generally loved by friend and foe alike. But he was famous, not for making more than the president (like Babe Ruth), marrying Marilyn Monroe (like Joe DiMaggio), spitting on fans (like Ted Williams) or going on epic benders (like Mickey Mantle.) but for hitting a baseball. And for better or for worse, that fame proved somewhat less enduring than those of the other denizens of baseball’s pantheon.

Power through schedules with 21 Google Calendar tricks

Maybe you charge through your plans with Patton-like precision, planning everything down to the minute. Or, like Marilyn Monroe, perhaps you’ve “been on a calendar, but never on time.” It really doesn’t matter which approach you take—Google Calendar can fit your style.

The service is accessible wherever you go, and it offers granular controls for Type A personalities as well as color coding for the style-conscious. It’s even socially aware, allowing you to add calendars outside your organization, and to involve your social network in events. However, you’re likely to curse every now and then when it freezes (although Google guarantees 99 percent uptime), or when calendar clutter makes you miss a meeting.

You’ll access most of the following tips through the gear icon above your calendar.

This guide will help you take control, whether you’re a Google Calendar novice or a power user. Most of the tips apply both to the free Google Calendar and to the one bundled with a paid Google Apps for Business subscription.

Not all of the useful shortcuts are official features. Google is constantly brewing new concoctions, so visit its Labs to find unique tools. Unlike with desktop software, Google can roll out new features whenever it likes.

FBI removes many redactions in Marilyn Monroe file

By Jonathan_So

FBI files on Marilyn Monroe that could not be located earlier this year have been found and re-issued, revealing the names of some of the movie star’s communist-leaning friends who drew concern from government officials and her own entourage.

But the records, which previously had been heavily redacted, do not contain any new information about Monroe’s death 50 years ago. Letters and news clippings included in the files show the bureau was aware of theories the actress had been killed, but they do not show that any effort was undertaken to investigate the claims. Los Angeles authorities concluded Monroe’s death was a probable suicide.

Recently obtained by The Associated Press through the Freedom of Information Act, the updated FBI files do show the extent the agency was monitoring Monroe for ties to communism in the years before her death in August 1962…
