THE FACTS: The Oklahoma City Thunder took a rollercoaster ride to victory in their first game without All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook. The Thunder squandered a 26-point second-quarter lead before Kevin Durant received a friendly bounce on a critical 3-point attempt in the final minute of regulation to help lift Oklahoma City to a 104-101 win over the Houston Rockets in Game 3 of their first-round Western Conference playoff series Saturday at Toyota Center.

Thunder Rout Rockets 120-91 In Game 1 Of Playoff Series

OKLAHOMA CITY — As awkward as he felt going up against his former teammate, Kevin Durant didn’t have a problem quite literally standing in James Harden‘s way in the NBA playoffs.

Durant scored 24 points and drew a rare offensive charging foul, and the Oklahoma City Thunder routed Harden and the Houston Rockets 120-91 on Sunday night in Game 1 of their playoff series.

Kevin Durant Fined For Making ‘Menacing Gesture’ After Dunk Against Warriors (VIDEO)

NEW YORK (AP) — The NBA has fined Oklahoma City star Kevin Durant for making a “menacing gesture,” when he pretended to slice his throat after throwing down a big dunk during the Thunder’s victory against the Golden State Warriors.

The play that led to Durant’s costly celebration occurred with about 1:45 left in the second quarter of Oklahoma City‘s 116-97 win at Golden State.

Thunder guard Russell Westbrook blocked Stephen Curry‘s layup, and Durant corralled the ball and went in for a soaring dunk at the other end of the court. He then made throat-slashing gesture and crossed his hands in prayer.

THE FACTS: It wasn’t particularly pretty but the Oklahoma City Thunder used a suffocating defensive effort to beat the Washington Wizards for the first time in two seasons, 103-80. The Thunder finished with three players in double figures. Point guard Russell Westbrook led the way with 21 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Westbrook was also 10-for-11 at the free throw line. Kevin Durant was right behind with 20 points and 10-for-10 at the stripe. Durant struggled from the floor though going 4-for-10. OKLAHOMA CITY — Kevin Durant had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Russell Westbrook scored 19 points and the Oklahoma City cruised to a 110-87 victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

Kevin Martin added 15 points for Oklahoma City, which improved to 25-8 at home. The Thunder led 29-19 after one quarter and 50-28 at halftime.

THE FACTS: The Oklahoma City Thunder used a deadly combination of stifling defense and hot shooting to blitz the Utah Jazz 110-87. OKC led by as many as 32 and took control of the game midway through the first quarter. The Thunder starters left the game late in the third quarter and didn’t have to come back in. Kevin Durant led all scorers with 23 points, while also pulling down 10 rebounds for his 19th double-double of the season. Russell Westbrook added 19 points on 6-for-11 shooting.
