Halo 4’s Free Forge Island Map Available Now

Halo 4’s Forge Island map is now available for download. According to a post on Halo Waypoint, the map passed the certification process early and has been pushed to Xbox Live ahead of its planned April 11th release.

Halo 2 PC Servers Shutting Down Next Month

343 Industries has announced that Halo 2 PC multiplayer will shut down on February 15th. In a post on Halo Waypoint, 343 noted that “we’ve been monitoring the population for months, and it’s been peaking consistently at approximately 20 players or less. Those that own this game can continue to enjoy Multiplayer over LAN after that date; however our network services will be turned off at that time.”

Halo 2’s Xbox servers were shut down in April 2010, though that didn’t prevent some people from managing to play for a few extra weeks. Before 343 took over the Halo franchise, Bungie revealed that more than 5.4 billion games of Halo 2 were played online.

Missteps made. DLC fiascos. Communication breakdowns,” O’Connor says. “But there were things that went astonishingly well – the creation of a genuinely competitive AAA studio chief among them. A collection of talent and souls that can do something genuinely amazing on this and next-generation hardware.”
