Rihanna Confirms It: 2013's the Year of the Controversial T-Shirt!

By Randy Miller

Think there’s nothing scandalous about a plain white tee? Think again! The latest uproar to come out of the shirtmaking industry was today’s decision that Rihanna has won her legal battle against Topshop. The British retailer can no longer produce the tee design printed with her image, which the singer claimed could be misconstrued as official merchandise. The ruling from Justice Birss stated, “Topshop’s sale of this Rihanna t-shirt without her approval was an act of passing off.”

Gone are the days when judge’s chambers were restricted to suits and ties – t-shirts are having their day in court with not only Topshop, but also litigious streetwear from Dolce & Gabbana. The Italian label (which, let’s be honest, has its hands full) is currently facing a lawsuit with Nordstrom. The case was lodged by Peter Fonda, who was none too pleased to see his image on an Easy Rider shirt produced and sold without his permission. We’re spotting a trend here! …read more

Dolce & Gabbana Closes Its Stores in Protest

By Justin Fenner

Source: Instagram user StefanoGabbana

If you thought all the drama stemming from Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s tax evasion case was over, think again. This morning, citizens of Milan woke up to find all of Dolce & Gabbana‘s stores – which include boutiques, cafes, and restaurants – closed in protest against some strong words from the city of Milan’s Councillor for Commerce Franco D’Alfonso. The shops, whose windows bear signs that say “CLOSED FOR INDIGNATION,” are scheduled to be closed until Monday.

According to reports, D’Alfonso earlier this week referred to the two as “tax evaders” and said, “Italy does not need to be represented internationally by people like this.” He has since released a statement apologizing for those words, saying they were “not given in an interview, but extrapolated from an informal conversation” and “certainly did not express the opinion of the administration.”

But the apology couldn’t quell an overwhelming response from Milan’s fashion community: Santo Versace – Donatella Versace’s brother and president of the family’s fashion house – wrote a newspaper column praising Dolce and Gabbana, calling them “national champions” who “fly the banner of Italy high around the world.” Valeria Gentile, who works for the brand, tweeted “13 years with you, I completely agree with your reasons and decisions, that concern all of us working in your big business.” And Anna Dello Russo showed her support by posting a photo of one closed store to her Instagram feed.

Dolce, Gabbana, and a number of executives from their fashion house were sentenced to jail time and ordered to pay fines in connection with a tax evasion case just last month. The two designers have always maintained their innocence, and plan to appeal the decision.

Is Marco Zanini Heading to Schiaparelli?

By Justin Fenner

Word has it Rochas creative Marco Zanini is the latest designer name to be linked with Schiaparelli, the long-dormant brand that is expected to be relaunched this year.

WWD reported on Tuesday that Zanini is rumored to head to the brand after four years in his position as creative director of Rochas, but it’s not certain what his role would be at the house.

Zanini held a variety of positions at houses like Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, and Halston before coming to Rochas in 2009. He’s the latest in a string of designers whose names have been mentioned as possible frontrunners for Schiaparelli, including Nicolas Ghesquiere and Erdem Moralioglu.

Tod’s owner Diego Della Valle announced that he would revive Schiaparelli – which he owns in addition to Tod’s, Roger Vivier, Fay, and Hogan – last May, just before the work of Elsa Schiaparelli was put on display in the Costume Institute’s Impossible Conversations Exhibit.

Hayden Panettiere Tattoo Gaffe Is The Topic Of Conversation In Glamour (PHOTOS)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

These days, Hayden Panettiere is getting plenty attention for both her role on “Nashville” and her rumored engagement to boxer Wladimir Klitschko. So it’s no wonder she doesn’t spend much time dwelling on her regrets — specifically, that infamous misspelled tattoo.

The blonde beauty covers Glamour’s May issue, looking summer-ready in a yellow Dolce & Gabbana two-piece. Inside the mag, Hayden talks about her career, the aforementioned beau … and that pesky botched ink on her back. But don’t worry, the 23-year-old doesn’t harbor any bitterness:

“It’s Italian: Vivere senza rimpianti. When I was younger, I was upset, and my dad said he wanted to show me something. He slammed one door of the bathroom, and the closet door popped open—it was a trick with the air. He said, ‘Whenever one door closes, another one always opens.’ So my tattoo means ‘Live without regrets.’ It’s not that you don’t regret things in life, but you at least try to learn from them. It’s misspelled too [accidentally, as rimipianti]—so I literally have to live by that advice!”

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Scarlett Johansson’s lips are sexily parted. She’s wearing a black lacy something. Her eyes? Smoky black and completely “come hither.” Photographed by the classically unsexy photographer Terry Richardson, she sexily stars in an ad for Desire, Dolce & Gabbana’s newest fragrance.
