Proenza Schouler's Fall Campaign Video Takes You to a Galaxy Far, Far Away

By Robert Khederian

It’s no secret that the fashion industry favors trippy video campaigns, specifically Proenza Schouler‘s notoriously surrealist adaptations of its collections (you do remember when a purple dolphin starred in the Fall 2012 video, right?). The latest digital short from the brand, though, takes this affinity to a whole other level.

David Sims films Sasha Pivovarova as she takes you along a hallucinogenic journey with vivid, acidic color palettes fading in and out as they’re juxtaposed against static black and white galactic scenes – complete with more than one parrot cameo. If this description has left you asking more questions, we think Proenza Schouler has achieved what it was after.

Edie Campbell Gets Caged For Alexander McQueen's Fall 2013 Campaign

By Justin Fenner

If Edie Campbell is getting a big head from all the Fall 2013 campaigns she’s landed (Lanvin, Marc Jacobs, and Jil Sander, to name a few), you can’t tell in her ads for Alexander McQueen. Among the many things she wears in the shots, which were taken by photographer David Sims, she dons the metal, pearl-studded head cage McQueen models sported on the runway. And even though she said she felt “not human” walking around in it, she thinks it’s beautiful.

“I don’t think it’s at all about the idea of caging or entrapment – it’s much more to do with glorifying and bejeweling somebody,” she said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK. There’s nothing misogynistic about it. It’s the highest form of pageantry – they’re practically works of art.”

The clothes in the collection, however, are another story.

“I have to admit they’re not hugely comfortable to wear!” Campbell said. “With layers of corsets and undergarments and waist-cinchers and hip implants, it’s not like whacking on a shirt. You very much have to be dressed in it by somebody who knows how all the layers fit together.”

Proenza Schouler Celebrates New Site With Tech-tastic Campaign Video

By Christina Perez

The Proenza Schouler boys may design their line from a farm house in upstate New York, but they’re no luddites. Their Spring 2013 collection, for example, was inspired by the constant barrage of imagery in the digital age, and who could forget last season’s trippy, video game-tinged “Desert Tideflick?

Now the duo has unveiled two more tech-tastic endeavors: a freshly revamped, interactive website, and a hot-off-the-presses campaign video featuring the multi-media stylings of digital artist Eddie the Wheel. Directed by David Sims with a soundtrack by Grass Giraffes, the video stars models Julia Nobis and Irina Nikolaeva – and lots of far-out cyber collage. Feast your eyes on it right here.
