LOS ANGELES, April 17 (UPI) — Hollywood’s Universal Pictures says it is working on a sequel to its 2012 musical comedy movie, “Pitch Perfect,” which starred Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson.

The “women can be funny” argument is over, proven beyond a shadow of a doubt and put to bed by anyone with half a brain. Judging by Rebel Wilson’s shtick at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards last night, it’s time to retire the “fat women can be funny” jokes as well.

The MTV Movie Awards aren’t the most highly viewed awards in the biz, nor are they the most fashionable. But the event still manages to produce memorable pop culture moments each year, from Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams’ swoon-worthy onstage kiss in 2005 to Beyonce’s solo statement in that corseted yellow Versace dress in 2003.
So it is with high hopes that we’re tuning in to this year’s MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Rebel Wilson. The film nominees include “Django Unchained,” “Ted” and “The Dark Knight Rises” but we’re obviously a bit more interested in the award for “Best Kiss.”

LOS ANGELES — The MTV Movie Awards are as much about the anticipated movies of the upcoming summer season as they are about the winning films of last year.
Rebel Wilson is hosting the Sunday night ceremony at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, Calif. “Django Unchained” and “Ted” are the top nominees in the irreverent competition, where fans vote online for the winners in categories such as best fight, best kiss and best shirtless performance.

The already star-powered cast of Kung Fu Panda 3 will see the addition of Bryan Cranston, Mads Mikkelsen, and Rebel Wilson.
They join the likes of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, and Seth Rogen in the tDreamWorks Animation threequel. “Continuing on his now legendary adventures of awesomeness, Po must face two hugely epic, but very different threats: one supernatural and the other a little closer to home,” according to the studio’s official statement.
Given the $1.3 billion global gross and two Oscar nominations earned by first two installments, that story appears to be a recipe for success.
Even though Cranston currently portrays Walter White in the intense and dramatic Breaking Bad, his previous animation work on Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted and his comedic turn on the long-running Malcolm in the Middle make him a great fit for the silliness of the Kung Fu Panda movies.

NEW YORK, Dec. 21 (UPI) — Australian actress and stand-up comedian Rebel Wilson is to serve as host of the MTV Movie Awards, the cable television network said.
