So most people out there don’t give a second thought to how all those ads you see on your mobile device actually get to where your eyeballs are. They just show up. But they show up because an ad network put them there. Ad technology boil down is that an ad network connects advertisers (Coca Cola, Nike, Perrier, etc.) to websites that want to host ads. Advertisers really want to reach you. Consumers spend more time on their mobile devices (read smartphones and tablets) than ever before. According recent numbers from Markcting Chart, mobile phones account for 17% of time spent on the internet (up 42% from 12%) with doubling 2011 numbers from 3% to 6%. Tablets are the next frontier. According to data from Mojiva, a premium mobile ad network, 70% of U.S. tablet respondents check two or more news sites/apps daily, compared 61% of U.S. smartphone respondents. Mojiva decided they would cater to this growth sector and created the first tablet-dedicated ad network, Mojiva Tab in 2012 and they were spot on. The company says that total number of tablet ad requests reached more than 31 billion in 2012, which represents a 600% increase from 2011. And, dozens of brand advertisers have already signed deals with Mojiva Tab including HP, Microsoft, CBS Interactive and ABC News. …read more
