Notebook: Clippers 96, Hornets 93

THE FACTS: In a tougher game than the Los Angeles Clippers would have liked with playoff seeding on the line, they came from 10 points down to beat the New Orleans Hornets 96-93. The Clippers used 10 points, two rebounds and assists and a block in the fourth quarter by Chris Paul to overcome the deficit. Paul finished with 17 points and 14 assists to go with seven rebounds to pace Los Angeles (54-26). Matt Barnes added 16 points and 10 rebounds and Jamal Crawford had 15 points off the bench.

An apparent cheap shot by Serge Ibaka against Blake Griffin proved quite costly.

With the Clippers trailing the Thunder, 99-93 with less than two minutes remaining on Sunday, Matt Barnes cut the OKC lead to three with a 3-pointer from the corner. While Barnes’ shot was in the air, Ibaka dropped Griffin to the floor with a chop to the groin.

After reviewing the play, the officials declared the cheap shot a flagrant foul type 1, giving Griffin two foul shots and then possession to L.A. A flagrant foul type 2 would have resulted in an ejection.

THE FACTS: Chris Paul notched his 18th double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 assists, leading the Los Angeles Clippers to a resounding 107-90 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Blake Griffin and Jamal Crawford scored 20 points each, Matt Barnes had 11 and Eric Bledsoe 10 for the Clippers, who improved to 4-4 on their eight-game road trip and 37-17 overall. Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes was given a flagrant foul-2 and ejected in the second quarter against Minnesota on Wednesday night after delivering a forearm to Wolves center Greg Stiemsma.
