Kate Upton Mercedes-Benz Super Bowl Commerical

And not just any Devil, either. The Dark Lord as portrayed by none other than Willem Dafoe has an offer of wealth, fame and fancy dance moves for the hero of the newest Mercedes-Benz Super Bowl Commercial. The spot follows one guy as he fathoms the full width and breadth of the devil’s influence, from rubbing shoulders with Kate Upton to challenging Usher to a dance-off and everything in between. The whole scenario hinges on piloting a new CLA around town. So, does our man succumb to temptation or does he hold out against the forces of evil? You’ll have to watch the video below to find out.

This isn’t the first time Kate Upton has showed up in a Mercedes-Benz commercial. The last time we saw the swimsuit model on our screens, she was tormenting a team of guys as they slaved to wash her CLA. You can refresh your memory by checking out that video here.

Toyota’s Super Bowl Ad Spot Goes… Weird: Video

Super Bowl advertising can chew up a sizable portion of any company’s marketing budget, but the end justifies the means. If you can make your commercial stand out above the rest, chances are good that many millions of viewers will take note and, potentially, remember your product when shopping.

Automakers have a long history of advertising during the Super Bowl, and sometimes it pays massive dividends. Remember Volkswagen’s ad with the pint-sized Darth Vader? It was the sensation of the 2011 Super Bowl, and it was getting hits long after the game was a memory. On the other hand, does anyone remember Suzuki’s Kizashi ad from last year, with a car full of sled dogs?

This year, Mercedes is hoping that swimsuit model Kate Upton will be a hit, while Lincoln and Audi are letting fans direct the ad’s message. Volkswagen is going for a more down-home approach, with owners relating VW stories, while Hyundai will try to show that your car is your buddy.

Toyota, on the other hand, is borrowing a page from Kia’s 2012 Super Bowl playbook, and going for the weird factor. In the teaser video above, Kaley Cuoco from CBS’ The Big Bang Theory strolls the streets of an anonymous city, bedecked in purple, granting wishes to the people she passes. We’d caution you to be careful what you wish for, since who really wants to wander around in the form of a giant ogre? Would you throw the flag for “excessive use of purple” as quickly as we would?

What’s your take on this? Will weird sell, or is Mercedes taking the right approach by showing as much skin as it can? Will VW’s feel good ads be memorable, or are they off-target this year?

By Darryl

Kate Upton is undoubtedly a the right “figure” for advertising a sexy car. Mercedes-Benz knows this all-to-well as they cast her in their early-release Super Bowl Commercial featuring the all-new 2014 CLA.

In an effort to target younger buyers, the CLA and Kate Upton should be the perfect blend of what “attracts” 20+ year olds. Mercedes-Benz released the 90-second commercial as a teaser to the real Benz Super Bowl ad, which is said to also feature R&B sensation Usher.

Hopefully the new ad will put Benz in a new motion for bringing in a larger number of young buyers into local show rooms. By the looks of the video becoming viral, receiving over 3 million views, Benz may be well onto their way to accomplish their task. What do you think? Hit up the first clip and teaser videos below!

Model Kate Upton in Mercedes-Benz CLA Super Bowl ad teaser - screencap

Mercedes-Benz made news in December when we learned that Kate Upton, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition cover model, would be pitching the automaker’s all-new 2014 CLA at the Super Bowl next month. With Mercedes determined to target a more youthful buyer for its stylish compact sedan, choosing a beautiful 20-year-old pinup seemed to make good sense.

In order to tease us before the big game, the German automaker has just released a 90-second video with the very seductive Upton interacting with soap suds and her blonde hair. The real Super Bowl ad, partially filmed in New Orleans (where the game will take place) will feature the bombshell along with R&B star Usher.

Scroll down to watch the German automaker’s uncharacteristic presentation, and let us know if this risqué Carl’s Jr.-like ad direction is a good way to shake up the company’s staid image, or if you think it demeans the brand. Be heard by voting in our poll and adding your thoughts in Comments below.

For the record, we’ve watched this video more than two dozen times and we still haven’t seen a Mercedes-Benz. Maybe one more time will do the trick…
