Disney CEO Bob Iger defended ABC News and ESPN against one shareholder’s charges of “liberal bias” at the company’s annual meeting in Phoenix on Wednesday.
Justin Danhof, a shareholder and a representative of the conservative think tank National Center for Public Policy Research, raised the charges at the meeting. He alleged that “liberal bias pervades Disney’s media outlets,” pointing to when ABC News’ Brian Ross incorrectly suggested that the shooter in Aurora, Colorado had ties to the Tea Party.
“I’m not asking that you turn ABC News into Fox News, or that you start airing Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh daily on ESPN,” Danholf said. “I’m just asking you to start playing it straight with the American people. Stop the bias and return to an era of honesty and objectivity in the news.”
