Increase speed @ no charge…? Odd?

By lawrosa

The local cable company increased my upload from 1.75 to 5 plus Mb/s…. Are they trying to stay competitive with dsl and VOIP????

I can say my son is happy as it does not give him the upload warning anymore when playing x box online…

I just noticed today and will need to post back if it makes any difference on my end…

This is what is now offered… I have the first tier Opt online @ 29.99 a month… Which is a lot of $$$$ IMO..

Split: Questions… 6. My issue with Christianity. Loophole?

I have a few questions for the people who claim the Christian faith…

One of the most standing reasons I choose not to be a “Christian” is the way that Christians conduct themselves. Goes to church on a Sunday but Friday and Saturday spent it partying and having sex. (I understand you can ask for forgiveness and it will be given to you. Does this not count as a loophole for Christianity?) You can pray for a bike and you will never get it. You go and steal a bike and ask for forgiveness and you will get that. It would be like seeing someone in the military being a complete dirt bag. Chances are IMO you would not want to be a part of what he represents.

Splitting this to it’s own topic. Please feel free to discuss this question here.

God bless,

GE

Tuna Fish Alternative Recipe

By Sharp Advice

:coffee:

A personal tuna fish recipe. If you like tuna fish & you also like clams, try this alternative recipe.

One Large can of Tuna.
(Preferably packed in oil and not water. Oil holds more flavor then water, thus providing improved taste IMO.)

One can of lightly drained clams…:D
Preserving some liquid improves the over all flavor IMO.

One extra stick of celery.
(If you like the added crunch…)

2 hard boiled eggs finely chopped.

Small amount of Mayo. (Just enough to bind together all ingredients.)

Half teaspoon of relish.
(Just enough to flavor but not enough to overpower with pickle flavor)

Half teaspoon of sea salt, if desired.

Half teaspoon of garlic powder.

Half teaspoon of parsley.

Half teaspoon of onion powder.

Or use any type of pre-blended seasoning desired but not to much…:NO NO NO:

Gently fork blend all ingredients.

Cover and refrigerate several hours.

Toast favorite bread.
Cover both slices with chopped lettuce.
Add tuna.
Enjoy…….

JD STX38 Kohler CV13 idles too fast

By jl66redcpe

It is a John Deere STX38 with a Kohler CV13 Engine. I can not get it to idle below 2200 rpm. I have adjusted the idle speed screw and idle mixture screw with no luck. I have also adjusted the governor (static) per the repair manual. There is some play in the throttle shaft but not that much IMO. The throttle shaft is resting against the idle screw as it should. I have had the carb off to check the throttle plate and it is there. I have even put an o’ring under the throttle shaft to make sure there was no air leak. I could really use some help on this one. I dont think a new carb will fix the problem — do you folks ??

Ammunition Shortage

By Sharp Advice

:coffee:

Regardless of whether you’re an avid shooter, casual shooter or an enthusiast, by now you should be aware and/or are aware of the severe ammo shortages.

Ammo is almost nowhere to be found, online nor at retail stores. Many, if not all such ammo retailers are now severely limiting quanities…:wall: Some limit sales to one box per day per customer!!!!….:madhell:

Best business to be in at the current time, high volume mass production of ammo manufacturing strictly for the retail customer… Even if you charged double the price, would you still be able to fill all the orders?

>>>>Answer: NO!<<<<…

Reasons for the shortages vary.
Some think it’s a government conspiracy to withhold retail sales.
Some think it’s hoarding by us gunners, etc.
Some think it’s hoarding by Dooms Day Preppers.
Some think it’s all of the above….

I am not a government conspiracy theorist.
Answer: NO

I do believe our government is purchasing huge amounts of ammo in all calibers.
Answer: YES

I also believe us gunners have mass purchased also.
Answer: YES

IMO and at the present time, you’d have better success finding GOLD…:D…then finding AMMO…

Am I Venting? Answer YES!!!

Care to Vent too?

Use the reply button and VENT here too….

BTW: Forum titled slightly edited to now also include ammo…

:beers:

Icecream 1.0.0 released

After almost 10 years since the first version,
Yes, it’s been almost a decade with us. And as it usually is with versions 1.0.0 after such a long time, it doesn’t actually bring anything breadth-taking. But there of course have been some fixes and improvements since version 0.9.7, and in fact even one larger feature found its way in, out-of-the-box support for the Clang compiler, including support for its plugins. Written by yours truly, after finding out about this compiler and finding out it was pretty difficult to get it to work with 0.9.7 icecream at least in some way. And also being the reason for repeatedly bugging Coolo about another icecream release 🙂 .

And, on the way to 1.0.0, the development repository has been moved to GitHub. Which should be good, as IMO the fact that it used to be developed in the KDE SVN helped to make the false impression that it is somehow specific to KDE, limiting its use among developers of other projects. This is probably actually the biggest feature of the 1.0.0 release.

So, thanks to everyone who has helped to make compiling a much more pleasant experience (possibly even with the added colors in the icecream monitor 😉 ).

Aviva’s TargetBenefit Annuities Offer Customers Greater Flexibility, Less Complexity in Preparing for Retirement Needs

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Aviva USA launched a new fixed indexed annuity series today that brings simplicity and flexibility to the annuity marketplace.

The TargetBenefit Annuities feature several innovative options to help consumers demystify retirement planning. The product offers a personalized approach to help someone preparing for retirement target their retirement goals, growth potential and income needs.

TargetBenefit is designed to restore a level of certainty to retirement planning,” said Lance Sparks, senior vice president for annuity IMO sales and distribution for Aviva USA. “With TargetBenefit, consumers have more options to meet their needs and help them adapt to current market conditions. Customers are looking for wealth accumulation, guaranteed lifetime income and a product that is easy to understand. This flexible annuity can meet all those needs.”

Sparks said TargetBenefit does that with features that include:

  • Simplicity: The amount of the guaranteed lifetime income is based solely on the amount of premium, the customer’s age and how long they wait to start lifetime income benefits. Unlike other annuities on the market, there are no separate income account value or withdrawal percentages to calculate.
  • A statement of benefits: The first of its kind in the annuity industry, the statement of benefits provides a straightforward explanation of the monthly dollar amount the customer will receive when he or she starts drawing guaranteed lifetime income, regardless of market fluctuations;
  • Options: Two optional income riders increase flexibility for customers to decide the age at which they turn on the income stream. Customers can select either a fixed lifetime income benefit, or a slightly lower guarantee with the chance to participate in more market index upside potential;
  • Extra peace of mind: The riders also offer a feature that triples the income payments in case the customer is admitted to a qualified care facility;
  • Choice: Contracts are available with either 10- or 15-year withdrawal charge periods, both offering multiple interest-crediting strategies from which customers can choose.

Idera Pharmaceuticals Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2012 Financial Results and Provides Update on Autoimmune Disease Program

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Idera Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NAS: IDRA) today reported its financial and operational results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2012.

“During the past year, Idera has demonstrated promising clinical activity for the use of Toll-like Receptor antagonists as a novel approach for the potential treatment of autoimmune diseases,” said Sudhir Agrawal, D.Phil., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “We recently completed dosing in the escalating single-dose portion of our Phase 1 study of IMO-8400, an antagonist of TLRs 7, 8 and 9. In this portion of the trial, IMO-8400 was well-tolerated and showed TLR target engagement at three dose levels in healthy subjects. These results build on the results of our Phase 2 clinical trial of IMO-3100, an antagonist of TLRs 7 and 9, in patients with plaque psoriasis, which we believe provided clinical proof of concept of our approach of targeting specific TLRs for the treatment of psoriasis and other autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.”

Dr. Agrawal continued, “Our next step is to conduct a Phase 2 clinical trial in patients with psoriasis with an extended treatment period of up to 12 weeks. Based on our evaluation of the comparative profiles of IMO-3100 and IMO-8400, including the engagement of TLR8 by IMO-8400, Idera has determined to conduct this Phase 2 trial with IMO-8400. Subject to successful completion of our ongoing multiple dose Phase 1 trial of IMO-8400 and to obtaining the necessary financing to conduct this trial, we expect to initiate this Phase 2 clinical trial in the second quarter of 2013.”

“Our 2012 year-end cash and cash equivalents totaled $10.1 million. We are exploring financial alternatives to obtain the additional capital to continue progress with our autoimmune disease program,” said Mr. Lou Arcudi, Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Financial Officer.

Financial Results

As of December 31, 2012, cash and cash equivalents totaled $10.1 million compared to $24.6 million at December 31, 2011.

Fourth Quarter Results

Net loss applicable to common stockholders for the three months ended December 31, 2012 was $6.5 million, or $0.24 …read more

Idera Announces Presentation at AAD Annual Meeting Demonstrating Toll-like Receptor Antagonists Normalize Expression of Inflammatory Genes in Psoriasis Model

–Phase 2 Data of IMO-3100 in Psoriasis to be Presented at IID Meeting 2013–

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Idera Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NAS: IDRA) today announced the presentation of new data showing that its selective Toll-like receptor antagonists, IMO-3100 and IMO-8400, normalized the gene expression of important cytokines in a preclinical study of skin inflammation that is commonly used as a model of psoriasis. Notably, genes related to the production of key mediators of psoriasis including Interleukin (IL) -17, IL-6, IL-12/23, IL-1, IL-21 Receptor, and INF-gamma were restored toward normal levels. The data were presented by James G. Krueger, M.D., Ph.D, of The Rockefeller University, at the Late-Breaking Research Symposium on March 2nd, 2013, during the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting.

“Our studies show that treatment with IMO-3100 and IMO-8400 reduces disease-associated expression of the IL-17 and IL-23 inflammatory cascade in the mouse IL-23-induced skin inflammation model,” said Dr. James Krueger. “Genes that play a mediating role in psoriasis were returned toward normal levels with both compounds; and the inclusion of TLR8 activity with IMO-8400 was additive to the effect on gene expression that we observed with the TLR7 and TLR9 antagonist compound. We are now extending this work, with the analysis of gene expression patterns in skin biopsies from patients treated with a TLR antagonist in a Phase 2 clinical trial.”

“The data presented by Dr. Krueger provide scientific support for the top-line results from the proof of concept Phase 2 trial of IMO-3100 in patients with psoriasis that Idera announced late last year. We look forward to presenting detailed results from the clinical trial at the International Investigative Dermatology Annual Meeting in May 2013,” commented Robert Arbeit, M.D., VP of Clinical Development at Idera. “In addition, during the first quarter, we completed the single dose portion of a Phase 1 clinical trial of IMO-8400 in healthy subjects. IMO-8400 was well-tolerated and demonstrated target engagement of TLRs 7, 8 and 9. The multiple-dose portion of the IMO-8400 Phase 1 trial is ongoing, and we anticipate data during the second quarter of 2013.”

A copy of the presentation is available on the AAD website.
