Unconventional Leading Men

By The Huffington Post News Editors

With the worldwide success of actors like Brad Pitt and George Clooney, it would seem classic good looks make for the most promising Hollywood careers.

This is still too true for women in Hollywood, but there are some actors who defy this superficial rule, using their humor, charm and infectious charisma to capture audiences and huge box office numbers. George Clooney and Stacy Keibler made their second Oscars appearance together tonight — except this time Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie weren’t there to join them.

The pair, who have been dating since July 2011, were lovely as they walked the red carpet at the 2013 Academy Awards. Clooney, who produced Best Picture nominee “Argo” alongside director Ben Affleck, was all smiles as he escorted his 33-year-old girlfriend into the theater.

The 51-year-old actor looked dapper in a tuxedo, while Keibler wowed in a studded, sequiny grey gown.

No Brad Pitt for Fincher's 20,000 Leagues

The Australian government is prepared to offer Disney a 30 percent locations rebate (worth about $20 million) for the studio to shoot their remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea down under.

Homer's Odyssey Goes to Space

Sing to me of the adaptation, Muse, the Warner Bros. plan to make a film version of The Odyssey set in outer space.

How sparkling-eyed Athena drove the studio to hire James DiLapo to put pen to parchment; to re-imagine Homer’s epic poem about hard-suffering Odysseus and his long journey home from the Trojan War, only with a sci-fi twist.

Oh Zeus! Golden-haired Brad Pitt was once attached to star, for the gods know he played Achilles in Warners’ Troy, though he has since left the project. But still, the studio does see franchise potential for The Odyssey. Maybe they can call it A Space Odyssey.

True, the people might well wonder who James DiLapo is; graduated from NYU just last summer, the great DiLapo’s first script, Devils at Play, made the divine 2012 Black List. The daughter of Zeus, whose shield is storm and thunder, indeed watches over him.
