Reports are circulating on Monday about a deal between the Cubs and the city of Chicago for a $500 million renovation of Wrigley Field, the team’s beloved 99-year-old home. The Mayor’s press release mentions new amenities that include a large new outfield video board, more night games, increased remote parking with shuttle service to the park, and improvements to the surrounding North Side neighborhood, including a hotel, plaza area, and retail space. The plan calls for Cubs owner Tom Ricketts to finance the plan privately – no taxpayer money.
