Pierzynski making smooth transition with Texas

Wrigley Field Renovations? Not Anytime Soon

  Wrigley Field, Chicago (Wikipedia)When is a deal not a deal? When Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel needs to put out a press release. Reports are circulating on Monday about a deal between the Cubs and the city of Chicago for a $500 million renovation of Wrigley Field, the team’s beloved 99-year-old home. The Mayor’s press release mentions new amenities that include a large new outfield video board, more night games, increased remote parking with shuttle service to the park, and improvements to the surrounding North Side neighborhood, including a hotel, plaza area, and retail space.  The plan calls for Cubs owner Tom Ricketts to finance the plan privately – no taxpayer money.

Ricketts: Cubs will win WS in new Wrigley

By ESPN.com news services Chicago Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts said Monday that the framework for a deal to renovate Wrigley Field, which was agreed to by the City of Chicago, will bring a World Series to a fan base that hasn’t seen a championship since 1908.
