Twilight Star in Talks to Join The Expendables 3

Kellan Lutz, aka Emmett Cullen in Twilight, is in early talks to join the ranks of The Expendables 3. Read on for minor plot spoilers….

According to The Wrap, the action stars of yesteryear will share the spotlight with a “younger group of tech-savvy action heroes” in the third iteration of the macho franchise, which will likely include Lutz. The two generations will initially clash, but will eventually put aside their differences to save the day. Naturally.

If negotiations are successful, Lutz will join new cast members  Milla Jovovich, Wesley Snipes and Jackie Chan alongside regulars Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham and Jet Li. Rumoured cast members include Mel Gibson, Nicholas Cage and Steven Segal.

In fact, the Subcommittee on Oversight of the House Ways & Means Committee held a hearing on Internal Revenue Service Operations and the 2013 Tax Return Filing Season. OK, this wasn’t as entertaining as Game of Thrones, but still, it mattered. Its focus? The filing season, IRS’ fiscal 2014 budget, and IRS operations generally.

The “release” of Wesley Snipes from federal prison has the tax blogosphere in a tizzy.  Of course its not exactly a release.  The Federal Inmate Locator still tracks Inmate 43355-018 placing him at CCM New York.  Under the Residential Reentry program: Pre-release inmates participating in release programming at an RRC remain in Federal custody while serving a sentence imposed by the U.S. District Court or DC Superior Court. Offenders under the supervision of U.S. Probation or the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) are housed as a condition of their supervision.  Accordingly, RRC staff monitors an inmate’s location and movement 24 hours/day. The great thing about this for tax bloggers is that we will get to write about this again on July 19th, the actual release date of Mr. Snipes. …read more

Wesley Snipes Released from Prison

You can’t keep a good Blade down for long! Reportedly, Wesley Snipes, who had been in federal prison since 2010 for tax evasion, was released on April 2.

According to TMZ, Snipes was transferred to the New York Community Corrections Office, which will oversee the actor’s home confinement.

Wesley Snipes is Out of Prison, and Into House Arrest

After serving more than two years in jail for tax evasion, actor Wesley Snipes was released earlier this week, though he will remain under house confinement until July 19.

Snipes, 50, began his three-year sentence on Dec. 9, 2010 in northern Pennsylvania after he was charged for failing to file his tax returns from 1999 to 2001. However, he was acquitted of felony fraud and filing false tax claims. According to TMZ, he was released on April 2nd. Snipes — who is famous for his roles in the “Blade” trilogy, “Rising Sun,” and “White Men Can’t Jump,” among other films — owes the government $7 million, as reported by the New York Daily News. In June 2011, he appealed his sentence arguing that it was too harsh, but the Supreme Court refused to hear the appeal.

It is unclear where he will spend the remainder of his sentence. At the time of his arrest, he was living in a suburb of Orlando, Fla. Snipes has five children and is married to painter Nakyung “Nikki” Park.
