The Newest PlayStation Plus Perks Are…

Today, Sony revealed its set of upcoming perks for PlayStation Plus. The following perks will be available to North American subscribers beginning with the PlayStation Store update on February 19th, and will be available in conjunction with other already-announced deals and freebies.

For starters, the cult hit Platinum Games PS3 title Vanquish will be available for free. Mega Man Maverick Hunter X on PSP will also be available free of charge (and can be downloaded to your Vita). Dust 514’s Starter Pack, which typically costs $9.99, will cost nothing for subscribers. And finally, Urban Trial Freestyle on both PS3 and Vita will be 20% off, though the game doesn’t, unfortunately, utilize cross-buy.

Urban Trial Freestyle Release Date

Last month, IGN introduced you to Urban Trial Freestyle — basically, a Trials HD for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Today, we can tell you it’s coming February 19th to the PlayStation Network. Urban Trial Freestyle puts you on a motorbike and challenges you with time trials, stunts and collectibles. Check out the video preview below.

Urban Trial Freestyle Is Pretty Much Trials HD

People love Trials HD and Trials Evolution. If you don’t know them, the Trials games are dirt bike titles from Finnish developer RedLynx where you ride across a 2D plane and try to set high scores and beat set times. Trouble is, Microsoft publishes Trials, so it’s never coming to the PlayStation. Polish developer Tate Interactive is basically saying “screw that.” Urban Trial Freestyle is coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita next month, and for all intents and purposes, it’s Trials HD.

That’s a good thing.

At first glance, yes. Urban Trial Freestyle packs five mini-games and 20 levels, which each pack a Stunt Mode and Time Trial. You ride your bike from left to right across the screen and try to pull off stunts or be as quick as possible. It’s a game of accelerating, shifting your rider’s weight, and surviving obstacles. It’s just a few buttons to worry about, but mastering it is what could keep everyone coming back.
