Amazon.com  has expanded AutoRip to vinyl records purchases since 1998.

Introduced in January, AutoRip provides Music Store customers with free digital copies (MP3s) when they make a CD purchase. Similarly, customers who now buy a vinyl record will also receive a free digital copy added to their Cloud Player libraries. This extends to all Amazon customers who have bought from the Music Store since 1998. Moving forward, prospective customers can receive free MP3s by looking for the AutoRip logo.

As part of the AutoRip service, customers can stream the MP3s on Kindle Fire, Android phones and tablets, iOS devices, Samsung TV, Roku, Sonos, and Ford SYNC Applink-equipped vehicles. Furthermore, customers will receive free storage and backup on all AutoRip MP3s. 256 Kbps MP3

Amazon AutoRip Extends to Vinyl—Customers Now Receive Free MP3 Versions of Vinyl Records Purchased From Amazon—Past, Present and Future

Customers who purchased vinyl records from Amazon dating back to 1998 will find MP3 versions automatically added to their Cloud Player libraries – free of charge

AutoRip eliminates the challenge of making a digital copy of your vinyl records

SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE)– (NAS: AMZN) —Amazon today announced it has extended its popular AutoRip service to vinyl records. AutoRip was introduced in January of this year to give customers free digital copies of CDs they purchase. Starting today, when customers purchase an AutoRip vinyl record, a digital copy of that music will be automatically added to their Cloud Player libraries where it will be available, free of charge, for immediate playback or download. Customers no longer need to go through the hassle of making a digital copy of a vinyl record. Additionally, customers who have purchased AutoRip records at any time since Amazon first opened its Music Store in 1998 will find digital copies of those albums in their Cloud Player libraries – also for free. Thousands of records, including titles from every major record label, are available for AutoRip, and more titles are being added all the time—just look for the AutoRip logo.

“AutoRip has been wildly popular with customers since it launched earlier this year,” said Steve Boom, Vice President of Digital Music for Amazon. “It’s a fun experience to suddenly find CDs you purchased just today—or 15 years ago—added automatically and free of charge to your digital library. We’re thrilled to extend this experience to vinyl records. Many of our music customers are vinyl fans and it’s traditionally been very difficult to make digital versions of vinyl records—now customers can enjoy the albums they buy wherever they are, not just when they have access to a record player.”

AutoRip features include:

  • Free digital copies: Amazon customers who purchase AutoRip vinyl records get free MP3 versions of the albums delivered directly to their Cloud Player libraries—automatically, immediately, and at no cost—no more hassling with finding a way to get them onto your favorite devices.

Dance Central 3 DLC Ends This Month

Since release, there have been “nearly weekly” DLC releases for Dance Central 3. However, Harmonix announced today that as of the end of this month, releases of new dance routines will stop, at least for the time being.

“As Harmonix moves forward with several new titles currently in development, the talented developers who make this content are needed on other projects,” Harmonix explained. “With the Dance Central DLC team moving around, this month will be the last DLC for Dance Central 3 for the near future. We’ll still be hard at work supporting the community with updated Live Challenges and leaderboards, and the Music Store will still be up and running for you to grab any routines you might have missed!”
