Patti LuPone’s Style Goes From Theater Novice To Tony Award-Winner (PHOTOS)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Patti LuPone is inseparable from the grandeur of her theater roles. The actress/singer burst onto the scene with her stunning performance as Eva Perón in the 1979 production of “Evita” and continued to woo audiences in plays such as “Les Misérables” and “Gypsy.”

Along the way, the vivacious star had the glitzy wardrobe to match her A-list career, complete with fur, brocade and plenty of sequins — clearly, LuPone knew how to grab attention on and off the stage. Nowadays, the Tony Award-winner opts for sleeker, more streamlined ensembles for her red carpet appearances, but small touches like lace panels and bold shoulders let us know that Patti’s kept her flare.

In honor of LuPone’s 64th birthday on April 21, we’re taking a look at her style over the years. Click through the slideshow and tell us which looks are your favorite.

Les Miserables Anniversary: Celebrating Its Broadway Premiere With A Look Back At Early Reviews

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Today marks the 26th anniversary of the Broadway premiere of Les Miserables, the third-longest running musical in the history of the Great White Way. The ultra famous production, starring Irish tenor Colm Wilkinson and Brit Frances Ruffelle, lasted an impressive 16 years on Broadway, racking up a total of 6,680 performances. But did you know the critics weren’t crazy about the show when it first came out?

Similar to, say, the mixed public opinion surrounding present Les Mis star, Anne Hathaway, writers and reviewers landed on both sides of the fence after Trevor Nunn and John Caird showcased their adapted musical, first in the UK and later in New York City. While one reviewer deemed the work “a wonderful human pageant,” another had far less nice things to say, describing the musical as “witless and synthetic entertainment.”

Scroll through the slideshow below to get a taste of the reviews accompanying the production’s 1980s debut, and let us know what you think of the crowd favorite in the comments.

By The Huffington Post News Editors

If the gossip rags are correct, Russell Brand has had very few lonely nights since he filed for divorce from Katy Perry back in December 2011.

Over the last 14 months, tabloid reports have linked the British funnyman to a number of ladies, including actresses, models, stylists, singers and more than a few mystery girls too.

But on Wednesday, the notorious womanizer told The Mirror that he’s “concentrating on work now and not especially looking for anyone.” He did mention, though, that he took quite a liking to “Les Mis” actress Samantha Barks, who he met at the Oscars last month.

The Oscar Best Picture Race Expressed Through Super Mario Kart

Pick your player, Academy. It looked for a while like Lincoln had the star advantage, ever since Zero Dark Thirty connected with that nasty red shell John McCain launched, but Argo has recently gotten a huge turbo-boost from the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs, and even though Les Mis crashed off the course a while ago and Amour, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Silver Linings Playbook are clearly one lap behind, it could be anybody's race. 3…2…1…
