It wasn’t long after Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell announced their Kickstarter campaign for a Veronica Mars movie that people began to wonder if the same thing could be done for other short-lived TV series. Of course, one of the first shows that pops into everybody’s mind is Joss Whedon’s Firefly.
However, some might argue that Whedon accomplished a similar goal in 2005 with Serenity; in a lot of ways, Whedon was kind of the “proto-Kickstarter,” if you will, in terms of TV/feature revivals. Nevertheless, Browncoats are a determined bunch, and the prospect of more Firefly is always a tantalizing thought. But Whedon says that, even though he’s elated for Veronica Mars, that doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing will happen for Firefly.
