Sprint continues to keep the environment in mind – helping customers’ pocketbooks and the planet

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– As the No. 3 company on Newsweek’s 2012 Green Rankings, and as the best carrier in the industry for their phone Buyback Program as named by Compass Intelligence Research, Sprint wants consumers to know there’s no time like the present to “trade-in when you trade-up”. With the Sprint Buyback program, consumers can receive up to $300 for their used eligible devices towards the purchase of a new device or as an account credit. Last year alone, Sprint put more than $100 million dollars back in customer pockets! Sprint also wants to make it easy for customers to trade-in their old phones as e-waste continues to be the largest growing waste stream in the country, generating more than 2.5 million tons of e-waste annually! The EPA also estimates 135 million cell phones – 17,200 tons – are discarded nationwide each year. Many wind up in junk drawers and landfills. But Sprint has taken back more than 47 million devices to date – helping our customers and our company keep the environment in mind!

After you’ve recycled your old device, why not select a new phone with environmental benefits and with all new 4G LTE capabilities! In fact, Sprint has more devices with green attributes, as certified by a third party, than any other U.S. carrier. Check out these devices and more information on www.sprint.com.

Now that you’ve “gone green”, how do you take advantage of your new device? Use it to check out Sprint’s all-new LTE network (available in select markets) with highly competitive speeds. Sprint offers Truly UnlimitedSM data, text and calling to any mobile device with no metering, no throttling, and no overages all while on the Sprint network with an Everything Data plan. This means that once Sprint’s 4G LTE and 3G improvements come to your area, you can expect better performance, data and voice quality which enables you to have instant Web access for news updates, HD viewing and game-playing, quicker video downloads and clear video chats. You will also have better signal strength, fewer dropped calls and less static when talking to friends, family or colleagues.

And speaking of our network, did you know we’re even making that more environmentally friendly by reducing our energy demand? Through Network Vision, we expect to have a new, more powerful network with a smaller energy footprint making Sprint’s 4G LTE network truly better for our customers and the environment.
