How to Play Your Favorite N64 (Nintendo 64) Video Games on Your Samsung Galaxy S3

There was a time in my life when I could think of nothing but getting home and playing Super Smash Brothers on my Nintendo 64. It was just something about tossing Mario across the map with Donkey Kong that seriously made me feel like an OG, not to mention that it was the first fighting game to compile a bunch of popular Nintendo characters together. Greatest idea ever? I think so.

Sadly, I sold my old N64 console when I was thirteen, and I’ve never forgiven myself for it, especially since I have most of the games still. Luckily, these games are no longer stuck on the consoles of our… more

Mario and Donkey Kong: The Minis Have a Death Wish

The more things change, the more they stay the same. The Mario vs. Donkey Kong puzzle series has been a staple of Nintendo’s portables for nearly a decade, and it’s now poised to make its debut on the Nintendo 3DS as “Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move.” Retaining its traditional ‘‘save the mindless Lemmings from absolute peril” gameplay, this eShop exclusive shifts perspective to a top-down view, allowing players to place guiding paths (set on  square tiles) for the marching Minis on the lower screen while watching their progress on the upper.

Burning The Page: Jason Merkoski Tells Inside Story Of Amazon Kindle

By The Huffington Post News Editors

The following is part one of a five part excerpt from Jason Merkoski’s Burning the Page: The eBook revolution and the future of reading. Merkoski was an early innovator on Amazon’s Kindle team, and his new book discusses how ebooks came to be, as well as where they’re going. This excerpt is about the inside story of the Kindle:

Working at Amazon was like taking a step back in time to Seattle’s pioneer roots, back when Seattle was the gateway to the Yukon gold rush. Working on the Kindle was like living in the Wild West.

For projects that broke new ground, like the Kindle, there didn’t seem to be any law, any sheriff, or any real consequences for making wrong decisions, because nobody knew the right ones. People seemed to wear their six-shooters out in the open, taking potshots at one another while hiding behind Donkey Kong machines. When vice presidents argued in the hallways, trigger fingers twitching, I could almost imagine a tumbleweed blowing between them.

Dad Hacks Donkey Kong, Daughter Plays as Girl

In one of the more heartwarming stories you’ll read all week, a dad has hacked Donkey Kong so his three-year-old daughter can play as Pauline and save Mario.

Mike Mika is a video game maker by trade, and upon noticing his daughter was disappointed by the default option, simply ‘adjusted’ the classic game so Pauline was now the playable character – complete with a P instead of an M at the top of the screen.

“My three year old daughter and I play a lot of old games together,” Mika wrote on his YouTube channel. “Her favorite is Donkey Kong. Two days ago, she asked me if she could play as the girl and save Mario. She’s played as Peach in Super Mario Bros. 2 and naturally just assumed she could do the same in Donkey Kong. I told her we couldn’t in that particular Mario game, she seemed really bummed out by that. So what else am I supposed to do? Now I’m up at midnight hacking the ROM, replacing Mario with Pauline.”
