An episode like this is one that really underlines how doomed many of these characters are. When you find Yoda presiding over a Jedi funeral noting, “We shall all find ourselves here in time,” it’s obviously difficult to not think about the fact that most of these characters are now very close to their Revenge of the Sith/Order 66 tragic outcomes.

Hell, even a line that felt a bit awkward in the moment, Barriss’ oddly-timed “Nothing will ever change”, has a bit more impact given the fact that a lot is about to change, in a rather dramatic way.

Given how rarely she appears on this series and her rather notable scenes here, Barriss Offee feels like the only likely candidate to be the one behind the bombing at this point, now that we’ve learned a Jedi was indeed involved. If that’s the case, I do wish they’d just shown it to be her in this episode, rather than draw out the reveal, but we’ll have to see… In the meantime, her scene with Ahsoka was very notable, as the two discussed just how difficult it is to abide by the Jedi rules of no attachments and to quickly let go of those who have died. It is a concept that is easy to rebel against and to actually have two young Jedi openly discuss it felt very real. It was also great to have them talk about the events of Season 2’s “Weapons Factory,” when they nearly died together, given we don’t always get so many direct callbacks like that.
