Orioles Beat Red Sox 8-5: Manny Machado’s Home Run Caps 9th-Inning Rally (VIDEO)

BOSTON — Manny Machado’s three-run homer capped a five-run ninth inning and gave the Baltimore Orioles an 8-5 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.

The Red Sox had gone ahead 5-3 in the sixth on consecutive homers by Daniel Nava and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. But closer Joel Hanrahan couldn’t hold the lead on a night when their nearly 10-year home sellout streak ended after two seasons in which they missed the playoffs.

Entercom Communications Schedules First Quarter 2013 Earnings Release

BALA CYNWYD, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Entercom Communications (NYS: ETM) announced today that it will release first quarter 2013 financial results after the market closes on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.

Entercom will hold a conference call regarding the quarterly earnings release on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 4:30 PM Eastern Time. The public may access the conference call by dialing 888-889-0278 (passcode: Entercom).

A replay of the conference call will be available for one week by dialing 866-489-8055. A webcast of the conference call will be available beginning six hours after the call on the Company’s website for a period of two weeks. Entercom Communications‘ website is located at www.entercom.com.

Manny Ramirez signs contract with Taiwan team

Former MLB star Manny Ramirez has signed a short-term contract to play in Taiwan‘s professional baseball league.

The EDA Rhinos say Ramirez will earn $25,000 a month to appear with the team during this year’s March-November season.

Ramirez appeared at a news conference in the Rhinos home town of Kaohsiung on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old right-handed hitter hit the big time with the Boston Red Sox and was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2004 World Series. He subsequently played with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox, before landing with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011. He was suspended from the Rays for using performance enhancing drugs — his second drug-related ban.

In 2012 Ramirez hit .302 for Oakland’s Triple-A Sacramento affiliate but his contract was not renewed.
