First Look: Gears of War: Judgment's Call to Arms Maps

The Call to Arms map pack is coming soon to Gears of War: Judgment (which we loved) but you can get your first detailed look at each new arena in Epic Games‘ latest overview series. The trio of videos below dives deep into the design of these unseen spaces, which are available to VIP Season Pass holders on April 23. Everyone else can get in on the action as of April 30 for 1,000 Microsoft Points (about $12).

GOW: Judgment Call to Arms Map Pack Detailed

The second Gears of War: Judgment map pack, Call to Arms, will be released to VIP Season Pass Holders next week, bringing with it three new maps along with a new multiplayer mode called Master at Arms.

While those who’ve purchased the VIP Season Pass will get access to the pack from April 23, everyone else will be able to purchase it from April 30 for 1,000 MS Points.

Included alongside the maps and mode are six armour and gun skins to further customise your characters and weapons, as well as 10 new achievements set to provide 250 Gamerscore.

The maps, set against the Locust invasion of Halvo Bay, are titled Terminal, Blood Drive and Boneyard. While Terminal is centred around a claustrophobic train station, the Blood Drive map will feature a hospital that’s turned into a battlefront, while the Boneyard map offers a chance to explore a makeshift graveyard for those who fell during the assault.

BioShock Infinite Leads US Sales for March

The NPD Group has revealed the top ten best-selling games in the United States for the month of March.

Total game sales for the month were $992.5 million (down 10% compared to March 2012), though software sales were up 2% to $602.4 million.

The best-selling titles in the United States for the period between March 3rd and April 6th were the following:

  • BioShock Infinite (360, PS3, PC)**
  • Tomb Raider (360, PS3)**
  • Gears of War: Judgment (360)
  • God of War: Ascension (PS3)**
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II (360, PS3, PC, NWU)**
  • Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS)
  • MLB 13: The Show (PS3, PSV)

    Analyst: God/Gears of War Undersold 'Significantly'

    An “investor note” from massive financial services firm The Cowen Group (as reported by GamesIndustry International) indicates that the newest entries in PlayStation’s God of War franchise and Microsoft’s Gears of War franchise may have both underperformed “significantly.”

    The Cowen Group’s investment note predicts that Gears of War: Judgment may have only sold 425,000 copies in the United States, a far cry from the 2+ million Gears of War 3 sold in its first month in 2011. Likewise, God of War: Ascension is predicted to have sold only 360,000 copies, far short of the 1.1 million copies God of War 3 sold when it launched in early 2010. This is especially distressing news for Sony and Microsoft considering the ever-expanding install base of both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

    IGN Plays The First Hour of Gears of War: Judgment

    I’m a huge fan of the Gears of War franchise. From the hyper-masculine dialogue to the graphic executions, everything about the series got me hooked. Tomorrow Gears of War: Judgment is going to be released and I NEED to play it. So, I decided to make a live stream out of it by playing the first hour of the game live on IGN.

    Mitch Dyer (who reviewed the game for IGN) and I are going to be talking about our impressions as long time Gears fans, and answering your questions about the game.
