BOSTON — Major League Baseball and its players association are donating $500,000 to the fund set up to help victims of the Boston Marathon bombings as part of a $646,500 contribution baseball is sending to the One Fund Boston.
The Red Sox are pitching in $100,000 and the Red Sox Foundation is sending along a $46,500 check from donations by Red Sox fans at Fenway Park over the weekend. A set of checks was presented to Boston Mayor Tom Menino on Sunday by Red Sox chairman Tom Werner and designated hitter David Ortiz.
