David Wright Injury: Mets Star Has Moderate Rib Strain, Will Rest

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — New York Mets third baseman David Wright has a moderate strain on the left side of his rib cage that will shut him down until next week, leaving his status for opening day uncertain.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Wright would rest for three to five days. Only time will tell whether the 30-year-old star is ready to begin the regular season on April 1, the GM said Friday.

Although deal unlikely, Mets meet with Bourn

By Anthony DiComo General manager Sandy Alderson and assistant GM John Ricco flew to Houston last week to have dinner with Michael Bourn and his agent, Scott Boras, according to the New York Post. But the meeting “was more a getting-to-know-you session than a dollars-and-cents negotiation,” according to the paper, “at a time when the dollars and cents remain among the most significant hurdles in doing a deal.”
