First Look: Go Behind the Scenes at Eddie Borgo

By Kate Schweitzer

Ever wonder what it’s like inside the fashion industry’s most coveted jobs? As part of Teen Vogue‘s brand-new digital channel, which launches today, “Fashion at Work” is a series that follows up-and-comers as they navigate the most stylish of workplaces.

The premiere episode features Bianca Harris, a 24-year-old studio assistant at Eddie Borgo.

“One of the things I’ve learned about Eddie is less is more,” she says about the jewelry designer. “He can see little details in little things and really, really amplify them. And that’s something that I’ve been trying to work into, not only in how I do things but also my personal style.”

Stay tuned for future episodes, which go behind the scenes with those who truly know what it’s like to be behind the scenes of fashion’s biggest brands – including DVF senior manager of communications Elizabeth Luby, Moda Operandi’s brand manager, Jana Hofheimer, and Teen Vogue‘s own assistant to the editor in chief, Alyssa Reeder.

Shop It Now: Thom Browne Pre-Fall 2013

By Christina Perez

Michelle Obama wore it, and now you can too. Available now at Moda Operandi, is coat that Mrs. Obama sported at the inauguration in DC on Monday.

Among the goodies are a handful of double-breasted dresses cut in the same navy silk tie jacquard, as well as a pleated dress in midnight blue whose silhouette bears a striking resemblance to that now-famous piece of outerwear. For those who admire Thom Browne‘s figure-enhancing cuts but do not wish to be the first lady’s mini me, there are also plenty of other gorgeous, menswear-inspired ensembles; our favorite is an extremely luxe-looking wool houndstooth ensemble made up of a crewneck shell, round-shouldered jacket, and knee-length pencil skirt.

Click through to see the entirety of the Thom Browne Pre-Fall 2013 pieces available for presale on Moda Operandi, and hurry – not only does the trunk show end Jan. 25, but judging by the amount of buzz Browne is currently receiving, these pieces are sure to be snapped up very soon.

Mugler Spring 2013 Handbag Collection

By Justin Fenner

Come February, Nicola Formichetti‘s first handbag offering for Mugler will finally make its way to stores.

“This is now my fourth collection as creative director of Mugler,” Formichetti said. “I was interested in creating sculptured objects in 3D, a piece of the Mugler world that one can carry around.”

The rigidly structured bags are aligned with the edgy futurism of Formichetti’s Spring 2013 collection for the brand, combining metallic calfskin with snakeskin, embossed leather, and crocodile. Two of the bags even feature a 3D tortoiseshell print. Prices range from $1,050 for a leather clutch to $18,000 for a bag made from patent crocodile.

Stateside, the bags will be available at Barneys, Maxfield, Opening Ceremony, Patron of the New, and Joan Shepp stores next month. Shopbop, Moda Operandi, and Luisa via Roma will sell the bags on their websites.

A look at the collection here in the gallery.
