SurePayroll Fantasy Index Returns as MLB Season Opens

Payroll company applies business value metrics to fantasy baseball

GLENVIEW, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– SurePayroll Inc., a leader in providing online payroll to small businesses nationwide, today released the SurePayroll Fantasy Baseball Payroll Index infographic. The index uses a statistical analysis that compares 2012 average values for fantasy baseball position players and pitchers. The index suggests which players could be undervalued based on their fantasy cost per fantasy points. This is the third in a series of infographics by SurePayroll that started with fantasy football last year. Understanding the importance of keeping down costs to small businesses, SurePayroll wanted to apply that philosophy to popular fantasy sports.

It’s easy to identify big money sluggers like Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera and Matt Kemp, or rising stars like Mike Trout, but in fantasy baseball, it’s often the names you haven’t heard of that win your league. That’s why SurePayroll’s index narrows down those lesser known players who won’t cost you much in fantasy dollars, but still deliver value, similar to how businesses find ways to be more efficient while spending less.

“You can’t afford to have to pay for the big names at every position in fantasy baseball,” said SurePayroll Vice President of Marketing Scott Brandt. “If you spend too much going after stars, it will deplete your payroll and you won’t have enough left to fill out a solid team. We enjoy picking an all-value team, because working with small businesses, providing value is what we’re all about.”

Some of SurePayroll’s picks this year include a middle infield of Arizona Diamondback Aaron Hill and Washington National Ian Desmond, outfielder Carlos Gomez of the Milwaukee Brewers and relief pitcher Kenley Jensen of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

“As anyone who plays fantasy knows, not all your sleepers are going to work out, but we’ve had some nice successes with our indexes in football and basketball,” Brandt said. “Baseball is such a statistical game, we’re feeling confident about our ability to predict this year’s unsung fantasy heroes.”

See the infographic of the SurePayroll Fantasy Baseball Index on the company’s blog for the company’s predictions on who will be a steal in fantasy baseball this season.
