Watchmen Actor Cast as Splinter in Bay's TMNT

Actor Danny Woodburn has reportedly been cast as Master Splinter in producer Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtles.

Woodburn played Big Figure in Watchmen and one of the dwarves in Mirror Mirror. He’s also known for his recurring role as “Mickey” on Seinfeld. Watch one of his scenes from Watchmen below:

Splinter, of course, is the rat who raised the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the sewers and mentored them in Ninjutsu.

Jonathan Liebesman is directing the live-action/CG-hybrid Ninja Turtles, which is now filming.

Raphael Actor Defends Bay's Ninja Turtles

Is everything we’ve read online about Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtles false? Actor Alan Ritchson seems to think so.

Ritchson, who’s playing (via mo-cap) Raphael in the Jonathan Liebesman-directed film, said the following to THR:

“The frustrating thing for me since I’ve signed on is that you hear that it’s already got a reputation. People assume they know what it’s going to be about, and those people are wrong.”

He then added, “You want to tell everybody how great it is, and you can’t really say why, but it is.”

Will Arnett Joins Bay's Ninja Turtles

Arrested Development and Up All Night star Will Arnett has officially been cast as one of the leads in producer Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtles reboot.

Arnett’s role in the live-action/CG hybrid film is currently being kept a secret, but the actor joins Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, and Noel Fisher as Michelangelo.

Still not cast at this point are Master Splinter or Shredder. However, we do know that Arnett is not playing Casey Jones, according to THR.

Elizabeth Olsen Up for Godzilla, Ninja Turtles

Martha Marcy May Marlene and Silent House star Elizabeth Olsen is reportedly up for the female lead in Legendary’s Godzilla reboot, and is also said to be under consideration for producer Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtles.

Variety reports that Olsen — yes, she’s Mary-Kate and Ashley’s sister — “had been on the lookout for a franchise pic with Paramount showing interest for her on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot and testing for Captain America: Winter Soldier, for a role that eventually went to Emily VanCamp.”
