NBA and Special Olympics Team Up For NBA Cares Special Olympics Unified Sports Basketball Game at NBA All-Star 2013

New York and Washington, D.C. — The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Special Olympics today announced the NBA Cares Special Olympics Unified Sports Basketball Game, which will take place as part of 2013 NBA All-Star in Houston. With support from The Coca-Cola Company, the game will tip off on Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 2:00 p.m. CST, prior to the 62nd NBA All-Star Game that evening. This year’s Unified Sports Basketball Game will feature 12 Special Olympics athletes — some of whom are coming from as far away as China and Africa — playing alongside NBA Legends Dikembe Mutombo, Chris Mullin, Detlef Schrempf and Ron Harper, current WNBA players Candice Wiggins, Ruth Riley, and Nicole Powell, and WNBA Legend Ticha Penicheiro. NBA stars Harrison Barnes, Andre Drummond, Kenneth Faried, and Damian Lillard will serve as honorary coaches and NBA All-Star Jrue Holiday will participate in the honorary tip-off. …read more

Notebook: Nuggets 111, Cavaliers 103

THE FACTS: Small forward Danilo Gallinari collected 19 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 111-103. Power forward Kenneth Faried added 17 points and seven boards for the Nuggets, who extended their winning streak to nine games and are 15-2 since Jan. 5. All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving led the Cavaliers across the board with 26 points, six rebounds and seven assists, while small forward Alonzo Gee chipped in 20 points. Denver’s win streak is its longest since a 10-gamer from March 30-April 15, 2005. …read more
