Nation’s largest fabric and craft retailer to leverage Demandware’s cloud-based commerce platform to drive growth and innovation for its ecommerce channel

BURLINGTON, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Demandware®, Inc. (NYS: DWRE) , the industry-leading provider of enterprise cloud commerce solutions, today announced that Jo-Ann Stores, Inc., the largest fabric and craft retailer in the U.S., with more than 800 stores, has selected the Demandware Commerce platform to support its digital commerce strategy. Demandware’s cloud-based infrastructure will help Jo-Ann Stores to realize operational efficiencies and best-in-class performance.

From 2006-2013, Garnett was part of the Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. team that implemented an aggressive strategic plan, leading to impressive performance in many areas and precipitating the private acquisition of Jo-Ann in 2011 by the private equity firm, Leonard Green & Partners, L.P. Jo-Ann was formerly traded on the NYSE (symbol: JAS) and is the largest retailer of fabrics and one of the largest specialty retailers of crafts with nearly 800 stores in 49 states.

Prior to Jo-Ann, Garnett served as legal counsel and a member of the leadership team for several closely-held businesses, including a software product and development business serving Fortune 100 manufacturers and consumer products companies and a regional health care staffing business serving institutional medical facilities throughout the State of Ohio and surrounding states.

Garnett holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.

$5,000 Scholarship awarded to Kent State University Fashion Merchandising major

HUDSON, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, the leading fabric and craft specialty retailer in America, is proud to announce the recipient of the second annual Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. First Generation Scholarship for Fashion Design and Merchandising: Vanessa Reese, Fashion Merchandising major at Kent State University in Ohio.

The Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. First Generation Scholarship for Fashion Design and Merchandising is awarded to a first generation college student enrolled in The Fashion School at Kent State University. Scholarship recipients are selected based upon academic achievement and involvement in activities relating to fabrics, crafts or sewing. In addition, recipients must have a minimum grade point average of 3.50.

All applicants must also write an essay as to why they are applying for this scholarship and what it means to them to be one of the first members of their family to commit to graduating with a four-year degree. In this essay, applicants are also asked to address specific examples of how they performed as a leader among their sewing or crafting social group.
