By Tim Worstall, Contributor There’s a slightly confusing story over at Inside Higher Ed about the joint venture between Udacity and San Jose State University. That joint venture has now been put on hold as a result of the pass rates on several courses that were offered in the spring. The basic assumption is that because the pass rates of these courses were low therefore there’s something wrong with the courses. And I’m not entirely convinced that that is correct: This spring, Udacity and San Jose State offered three online for-credit math courses for $150 to 100 students per course. Of those students, half were San Jose State students and the other half were un-enrolled students who might have come from high schools or the military. …read more
