Batman Begins and Inception actor Ken Watanabe will reunite with Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. for their remake of Godzilla, which the studios announced began filming today in Vancouver.

The Godzilla cast also includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston.

Gareth Edwards is directing the film from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont and Dave Callaham. Godzilla opens May 16, 2014.

Aaaron Johnson May Kick Godzilla's Ass

Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson is reportedly the front runner to star in Legendary’s new Godzilla movie.

Deadline reports that Johnson “won’t make a final decision on whether or not to take the offer until he sees the final polish that Frank Darabont is writing based on the Max Borenstein script.”

How well does Frank Darabont know his Mothra? Can he wax poetic about Rodan? Does Mechagodzilla haunt his dreams?

Superman Could Star in Godzilla

The question must be raised, because Chud is reporting that Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Godzilla remake — which Darabont is now scripting — will feature more than one monster. That includes two new creatures that will be on the move in the film in addition to Godzilla, though it doesn’t seem to rule out the chances of any old-school Toho faves making an appearance too.
