The concept is simple – Characters, classes, bosses, music, and backdrops from the Final Fantasy universe in a fast-paced combat soiree mashup. The combat is eye candy, the pixels are perfect, and the game evokes a sense of nostalgia that even a franchise neophyte can enjoy. Everyone attacks, there’s no thinking or planning, just tap (or in this case, run your finger across a row) each character as they come off cooldown and let them cut loose with familiar abilities from ages past. So where do things go wrong? The devil is in the DLC.
