ServiceNow Delivers Enterprise IT Cloud to Government Agencies

Receives FISMA Moderate Authority to Operate Cloud-Based Services for Government Agencies from the U.S. General Services Administration

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)– ServiceNow (NYS: NOW) , the enterprise IT cloud company, today announced it received Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) Moderate Authority to Operate (ATO) from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The authorization will allow federal, state and local government agencies to securely leverage ServiceNow software-as-a-service for IT system consolidation and business process automation to improve IT service delivery and reduce costs.

The government‘s “Cloud-First” policy mandates agencies to take full advantage of cloud computing benefits to maximize capacity utilization, improve IT flexibility and responsiveness as well as minimize cost. FISMA mandates that each government entity will develop, document and implement an information security program for its data and computing systems. By implementing ServiceNow for IT service automation, government entities can meet security practices at the FISMA Moderate level while rapidly expanding their cloud computing footprint.

FISMA Moderate ATO requires ServiceNow to implement and operate an extensive set of security configurations and controls. This includes documenting the management, operational and technical processes used to secure the physical and virtual infrastructure as well as conducting third-party audits.

“Receiving the FISMA Moderate ATO authorization demonstrates ServiceNow’s commitment to meeting security guidelines set by government agencies. The authorization includes continuous monitoring of controls and providing transparency about the well-being of those controls back to the agencies,” said Arne Josefsberg, chief technology officer, ServiceNow. “This effort will also allow us to accelerate our submission for FedRAMP authorization which will further reduce the cost and time required when agencies conduct redundant, separate security assessments.”

ServiceNow provides cloud-based services that transform enterprise IT by automating and standardizing business processes and consolidating IT operations. In addition to FISMA Moderate level, ServiceNow recently received an ISO 27001 certification, a widely recognized global security standard.
