Best of WB's 20 Film Collection: Comedy Review

The Best of Warner Bros. series of box sets released another DVD collection earlier this month with the fourth edition (after the studio’s Best Pictures, Musicals and Romance) of its 20 Film Collection series. (These are smaller releases derived from WB’s massive 100 Film Collection on DVD and 50 Film Collection on Blu-ray.) This particular set, however, focuses on Warner Bros.’ classic comedies spanning from 1935 (A Night at the Opera) to 2009 (The Hangover).

‘Worst’ Best Pictures, According To IMDB Rating (INFOGRAPHIC)

In 1999, “Shakespeare in Love” picked up seven Oscars, beating out Steven Spielberg’s World War II epic “Saving Private Ryan” for Best Picture. It also earned a place in history as one of the worst Best Pictures of all time — according to user ratings on IMDB, where it holds a 7.2 out of 10.

There’s nothing wrong with a 7.2 rating, but most Best Picture nominees and winners have scored higher, especially since the 1990s when average winners’ ratings have consistently stayed over 8.
