Lost Planet 3 Delayed & Next Batman Arkham Game Gets Announced

In today’s top stories I see nothing but good news…minus the delay of a certain Capcom game. Did I mention Batman? Because, Batman, Batman, Batman, Batman. Sorry, I forgot to turn off my nerdometer. It’s this little device I use to translate my thoughts into a single word, serving in the description of whatever nerdy thing is preoccupying my mind. Basically the new Batman game has me excited. To see just how, I highly suggest you watch The Fix intro. Just a suggestion, of course.

Here are the stories covered in today’s Daily Fix:

Batman: Arkham Origins Announced and Dated

Warner Bros. has announced the next title in the Batman: Arkham franchise will be Batman: Arkham Origins, currently in development for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.

It’s currently slated for release on October 25 this year, but there’s no mention of the game appearing on next-gen consoles.

Eric Holmes, lead designer of games including The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype, is heading up the project.

New Batman: Arkham Game Coming This Year

In an investor call, a member of Time Warner management has confirmed that a new game in the Batman: Arkham series will be released this year.

John K Martin is the company’s CFO, and you can read the transcript of his comments on Yahoo! Finance. “And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise,” he says. “So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.”

A third entry in the Arkham series has seemed inevitable for a while, but we’ve had no firm details on what it is or even who is developing it. Rocksteady had hinted that its next game will not be Batman-based, and Variety claimed that Warner’s next Batman game will be a Silver Age prequel featuring members of the Justice League of America – but it also claimed that the game would not be out before 2014.
