Next year, 20th Century Fox will release their upcoming Zorro Reborn, starring Gael Garcia Bernal. And on Wednesday, a lawsuit was filed asserting that the masked vigilante character is in the public domain and that the company professing to own the rights to Zorro — Zorro Productions Inc. — has perpetrated a fraud.
“Defendants have built a licensing empire out of smoke and mirrors,” said the complaint.
