Every time we at Forbes publish a new World’s Billionaires list, as we did last week for the 27th year, Michael Bloomberg’s net worth attracts scrutiny. It’s understandable: he may not be the richest New Yorker in our ranking (that honor goes to industrialist David Koch), but he’s the highest-profile. More women have joined the ranks of the world’s wealthiest, but as a group females still hold a small sliver of total 10-figure fortunes. Of the 1,426 people on the new 2013 Forbes list of the World’s Billionaires, just 138 are women. That’s up from 104 women last year.
