12 of the Weirdest Things You Can Do for Free Rent on Craigslist

Craigslist is a great place to find housing and also to find weirdos who will pay some or all of your rent if you do sex stuff with them. Here are 10 real outside-the-box roles you can fill in exchange for room and board TODAY:

1. Live-In Girlfriend And Possibly Mother of This Guy's Children Because Why Not, He Already Has a Spare Room for the Kids

The most hilarious part of this highly presumptuous offer is the requirement that you “be able to hold your own in jeans or formal.” Not only does it read like criteria for a beauty pageant, but the phrase “hold your own” lets us know that this guy is setting a HIGH standard that any future lady needs to be able to match. After all, he does his own cooking AND cleaning.

‘Bright Blessings,’ North Carolina Nonprofit, Has Thrown Birthday Parties For 10,000 Homeless Kids

By The Huffington Post News Editors

As Amy Cervantes watched her son Alex marvel at his gifts while surrounded by friends and family on his third birthday, she felt a twinge of sadness. The mother of three thought about the thousands of homeless kids who wouldn’t get to celebrate in such a joyous way and decided in that moment to do something about it.

Since making her resolution in 2005, Cervantes – along with her husband and three sons –- has enabled more than 10,000 homeless children to properly revel on their birthdays, TODAY.com reports. The North Carolina family’s efforts have evolved into a full on nonprofit, Bright Blessings, and the organization is developing affiliates in a number of other states.

“We believe that birthdays are a celebration of life — a time to emphasize that your life has purpose, that you are a gift,” the Cervantes family told the Charlotte Observer. “For children who were already struggling with issues of poverty and homelessness, we couldn’t imagine how much worse they might feel waking up on their birthday and knowing there would be no celebration or special attention.”

Note Tucked Into Windshield Goes Viral

Samantha Ford stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts on Sunday and when she left, she found a note she couldn’t believe stuck under her windshield.
‘No words to describe how I’m feeling’

It’s totally okay to hate humanity on Mondays.

But this little note will make you feel a tiny bit better about the future of mankind.

On Sunday, Samantha Ford, who is romantically involved with a soldier deployed in Afghanistan, shared a photo on Facebook of two $20 bills and a letter from an anonymous veteran.

“I just thought I would share with you all what happened to me today! Came out of Dunkin Donuts and found this under my windshield wiper,” the accompanying post reads.

Story continues after photo
take your hero to dinner

Ford, who lives just outside of Boston, according to TODAY, said the sticker on her car reads “Half my heart is in Afghanistan.”

She continued: “There are no words to describe how I’m feeling right now. Tears in my eyes. I just wish I could thank whoever did this! God bless our troops and all of those who stand behind them.”

By Monday afternoon, more than one million Facebook users had already “liked” the post. One commenter named Kayla Perrin says Ford is her best friend.

“I can’t think of anyone who deserves a random act of kindness more than [Ford] and her boyfriend Albert John DeSimone,” Perrin wrote.

TODAY reported that DeSimone is assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. The unit is based in Fort Stewart, Ga.
